Please only answer if you have done the dieting/weight loss thing and actually have something of value to say.
I am wanting to lose about 40 pounds over the next 4 months, meaning 10 pounds a month. Is this a reasonable goal?
Do any of those pills/products that are meant to assist in the weight loss process actually work? What were your experiences? Thanks!

diet pills do NOT work. Most fad diets do NOT work long term. sure, you might lose the weight at first, but after a while all the rules and restrictions get to you and you fall off the wagon.
ten pounds is a bit unrealistic for healthy, long term weight loss. halve that at most. any crash diet/supplement you use to lose the 40 pounds quickly will only make you blow back up after you stop. and in most cases, you will not only gain the 40lbs back, but more on top of that.
start with SMALL changes, and each week incorporate another one. lose the soda, opt for water instead. Increase the water consumption. Whole grain breads and cereals. add some activity to your day-take the stairs instead of the elevator at work. skip the appetizer and dessert when eating out. take half the meal home in a doggy bag. heavy on fruits and veggies, light on starches and sugars. LEAN proteins. skip McDonalds and opt for a low fat sub at subway instead.

If you want honesty, you got it. The answer is 'no', they don't work. I have tried a couple and not only did they alter the way I felt, they didn't get the job done. Diet pills are a scam. I have been into fitness for 5 years and know many people in the fitness and nutrition industry. I know that none of these people believe in them or any kind of supplement (except for vitamins). There are healthy, proven ways to lose fat quickly without the junk. It takes dedication and time. But, it's worth it. Check out this site. The name of the website is 'Burn the Fat'. Just take a look:

Good luck!! Just say no to the pills. You will actually put any weight you lost back on, if you choose to take them.

Diet pills are not healthy. The healthiest way to lose weight is exercise and diet. If you lose weight by any other means you are losing mostly water weight and the weight is only going to come right back!
10lbs a month really isn't that good for you, it could cause excess skin sag and is also unrealistic. 2-3 lbs of weight loss a month is a more realistic, healthier goal. Maybe 5.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Any diet pills are quite dangerous, especially for high blood pressure and hyperactivity, heart problems, and mixing with prescribed meds.
As for the 10 pounds a month, a little on the high side according to wedmd.com or medical net.com, but as long as you are strict and eat well, I would do it... depends on you and your life style, age, exercise etc.
good luck

I have probably tried every diet pill out there...they all kind of work at first by suppressing your appetite, then your body gets used to them and they don't work after awhile...the only pill that actually worked for me for a long time was Zentrex 3..I was never hungry and lost 11 pounds in a couple weeks..but everyone is different Xenedrine Hard Core is pretty good..i wasn't really ever hungry and It speeds up your heart rate...I dunno try them they might work

Yes, it's possible.
I've used phentramine and lost 25 lbs in 5 weeks. But I also worked hard in gym.
So, good luck!
