Does Prov 4:18 really justify an organization replacing doctrines and failed prophecies with new doctrines and prophecies, or does it simply contrast the benefit to the "righteous" of obeying a wise father (Prov 4:10-19)?

False teachings can be called "false words" and Prov 13:5 says, "A false word is what the righteous hates..."

When the WTS changes a teaching to something that is totally different, is it like a light that is getting brighter and brighter or more like having one false light (word) completely turned off and a totally different light turned on?
Do you think the WTS would be critical of any other organization that changed its teachings as many times on as many different issues over the last 100 years as the WTS has?

Our Job as recovered Christions is to Bless the Jehovah's Witnesses by trying to show you the error of the false prophet you follow and make you think about where God wants your faith directed, Blessings don't always feel so to those being blessed.

I'm confused. Proverbs 4: 10 doesn't say anything about "New Light." Instead it say the light is getting BRIGHTER.

Proverbs 4:18, "But the path of the righteous ones is like the bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly established."

DwayneWayne,

"I've been wondering, what denomination do you claim nowadays???"

A fellow Witness once used the phrase "Free range Christian" to describe

those who claim to be "Independent, non denominational, born again.

Sort of fits, don't you think?

Daniel 12:4 states

“And as for you, O Daniel, make secret the words and seal up the book, until the time of [the] end. Many will rove about, and the [true] knowledge will become abundant.”

Rev 2:14-15

14 “‘Nevertheless, I have a few things against you, that you have there those holding fast the teaching of Ba´laam, who went teaching Ba´lak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit fornication. 15 So you, also, have those holding fast the teaching of the sect of Nic•o•la´us likewise. 16 Therefore repent. If you do not, I am coming to you quickly, and I will war with them with the long sword of my mouth.

There are some things that God’s followers won’t understand at first, but eventually Jehovah God will correct them. The early Christian congregations have made mistakes, some are teaching the teachings of Balak, Nicolaus, etc. but these congregations remain the congregation of God. Please read Rev 2 & 3 and see the different congregations talked about in those chapters. The point is, Jehovah God allows mistakes and errors to happen in the Christian congregation but eventually those errors will be corrected.

18 But the path of the righteous ones is like the bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly established.

If doctrinal errors are corrected, this is a sign of humbleness.

What do you think of a person who only sees and talks about the bad things that another person did in that other persons previous life and never the good things that the other person currently does?

The WTBTS is critical of ALL other organizations, regardless of whether they change their teachings or not. They are particularly fond of pointing out that those 'of the world' and those of 'Babylon the Great' are 'tossed about, having no where to go'. I wonder if they ever think about how their members feel when they are expected to change their beliefs because the society has changed it's mind about a particular spiritual understanding, are they not also 'tossed about'. If the organisation was truly spirit led as they claim there would be no need of changing understanding. Scriptures would be either understood as the spirit told them the meaning or not understood until the meaning was revealed. The understanding of words 'sealed up till the end' would remain that way until the end, not be guessed at by a bunch of men who are self appointed voices of God. If this organisation was ever God's voice, then it had a duty to keep it's mouth shut on those things it did not fully understand, rather than guess and then, when they are proved false, say, 'oh well, the light just keeps getting brighter, we see more clearly now'., or, even worse, blame the members for misinterpreting their words. How many lives have they destroyed by such behaviour? Do they really believe that God would play such games with peoples lives? I would say that the organisation has actually brought discredit to the very name they wish to iluminate by such hypocrisy.

God's systems changed over from the Law Covenant written on stone tablets to one written on the heart. So a radical change in teaching is not indicative of falsehood. We would wish that other organizations change their teachings to be more in line with the "truth" of the bible. They had no problem changing them from what Jesus taught in the first century, but unfortunately for mankind, those falsehoods have persisted to this day.

Prov 4:9 states:The way of the wicked ones is like the gloom, they have not known at what they keep stumbling.

I believe that it is easier to believe them if you really do not know a lot about the Bible. When they started their brainwashing on one, it is hard to know what is true and what is not. They do not even read their answers. They copy and paste places from their literature.

Green Latern: I have seen you follow Unsilenced Lamb, and this only gives me a very clear picture of how this organization operates. You are violation the rules of Answers. You cannot take Unsilenced Lamb's questions and answers, then do not answer them. I want to know what she has to say.

She is one of the brightest characters here, and her personal experiences should be warning to all people about this organization. Yet, I have not seen ONCE any JW to say, " Dear friend, I am so sorry. This kind of stuff should have NOT happened to you and it is very wrong ".

I would have written to you personally but you do not allow contact. It is WRONG what you are doing, and God sees it. I have also personal interest in JWs doctrines. I have issue with many other groups, but JWs and Mormons bother me the most because they call themselves as Christians and they are not.

You do not think that " Unsilenced Lamb's " conduct is Christian? What about you. One thing is, she is saved. She accepts Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

The Wt.Soc was closer to the truth about 'new light' back in 1881 than it is today. This is what Pastor Russell said in Zion's Watch Tower, Feb 1881, p188:

'If we were following a man undoubtedly it would be different with us; undoubtedly one human idea would contradict another and that which was light one or two or six years ago would be regarded as darkness now... so it is withg truth, any knowledge or light coming from God must be like its author. A new view of truth never can contradict a former truth. 'New light' never extinguishes older 'light', but adds to it... So it is with the light of truth; the true increase is by adding to, not by substituting one for another.'

So far, so good. Pastor Russell then gave as an example of such new light, 'Well, 1873 came, the end of 6,000 years, and yet no burning of the world etc. But prophecies were found which pointed positively to 1874 as the time when Jesus was due to be present... Just at this time Bro. Keith (one of our contributors) was used of the Lord to throw another beam of light on the subject which brought order out of confusion and caused all of the former 'light' to shine with tenfold brightness...' This new light was the Emphatic Diaglott rendering of Mat 24: 37,39 where 'presence' was used instead of 'coming'. And thus was born the doctrine that Christ could come (for the 2nd time) without actually being seen to be present. So they could cling on a bit longer to their teaching that he actually DID come in 1874 - this was his 2nd coming as prophecied in Mat. 24!

100 years later, hardly any JWs knew the old light - this 2nd presence in 1874 - for it had been switched off completely. They've kept the idea that his 2nd coming was invisible, but that it happened (invisibly) in 1914. Now the 1914 'light' is in process of being dimmed to the point that 21st century JWs don't realise there's a new teaching about Christ coming visibly in the future which will replace the old 1914 invisible teaching! At the moment they teach THREE comings of Christ! His visible, earthly sojurn, his invisible spiritual coming in 1914, and his future visible coming on the clouds, with the angels, in great glory.

So your analogy needs to be adjusted to the idea of a dimmer switch being turned. I say this for the benefit of anyone thinking of becoming a JW.

For their, and your benefit, I quote from the 15 Nov 1963 Watchtower mag, p633: 'It is not a form of religious persecution for anyone to say and to show that another religion is false. It is not religious persecution for an informed person to expose publicly a certain religion as being false, thus allowing persons to see the difference between false relgion and true religion.' Keep posting those questions!

I was In 71/2 yrs when I chose to leave My Parents who had been Baptized some yrs earlier acted as if I told them That I had cancer and had only 6 mo.s to live . I may have well have, because that is how long they gave me to change my mind ,the Elders counseled me to return to the flock or they would have to warn the congregaion that they were not associate with me. This included my parents and my oldest and closest friends! I had not become a sinner, broken any laws nor was I encouraging others to leave. This is just one way they keep people from leaving and it works on most who's whole social life revolves around the "church" because while in you are told that "bad association's spoil use full habits, so your not to friends who are not JWs , If you are thinking about studying with them keep your grip on the outside world so the first time some thing ,Just doesn't feel right , You can yank yourself out as they are grabbing at your feet,. Get OUT and NEVER LOOK BACK!!

Here we go again...

Good Morning Lamb. I've been wondering, what denomination do you claim nowadays???

Something I don't understand - If we are as you say such a false prophet/cult/mislead organization etc., why do you dedicate so much time crusading against JWs alone? Don't you realize there's a whole world of false religion out there? You know what Babylon the Great is (no matter how much you claim to be 'deprogrammed' I'm sure you haven't found a better explanation), so why don't you build a website that condemns EVERY organized religion that (@ least in your opinion) is not 100% in harmony with Jehovah's teachings?

I agree with you new light can not replace new light, that means the new light when change wasn't the truth and has become old light which light can not become old. If you you look up flash of new light in the bible it doe's not refer to prophecy but refers to the quality of a persons life!
