I am from the US. Around our area you are not to the the Bride the day, or at least the night before or the day of the wedding. Wedding rehersals are even planned around this custom. There has to be a reason for this though. Where did the custom come from.

Weddings and the people involved where all about luck, good and bad, when alot of wedding traditions came about. At first the bride and groom didn't see each other prior to the wedding b/c most of the time weddings were betrothed and the bride and groom were from different towns or villages. As time went on people became superstitious about the habits that had surrounded weddings for so many years. Here's a link about how certain traditions came about and when they were believed to be started.

Usually they do see each other the night before the wedding (at least in the U.S.). Here it is typical to have the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on the night before the wedding. But typically they don't see each other on the wedding day before the wedding and definitely not the bride in her dress.

My husband saw me on our wedding day before because by necessity we had to stay in the same house along with our families. But he didn't see me in my dress beforehand.
