Indeed, at least regarding locomotives. The Dash 9 designation refers to a locomotive model built by GE, which were introduced in the 1990s (they have since been proceeded by GE's new Evolution Series of cleaner burning locomotives).

There is no such thing as a Dash9 'train' which is the whole shebang - prime mover, freight or passengers cars etc. There is a dash9 locomotives - see the first answer.
