will wooden dowels with a whittled points and fletchings made out of two pieces of tape work?(Im not crazy about the tape, ive seen an arrow shoot 70 feet with them)

rabbits are pretty small so id say about a 10 or 15 pounds draw weight is the minimum but not over 50 pounds
and the arrows yes they should work

30 lb or a compound like the genesis from mathews that is only 20 lb and has the energy of a 35 lb recurve. at 8 to 9 lbs you would not kill a rabbit. my daughter shot 3d with me last year witha 15 lb youth bow and it would barely stick into targets so 30 lbs... no a wooden dowel with fletchings made of tape is not an acceptable substitute for a properly fletched arrow. it would not fly accuratly or withstand the force of a 30 lb bow needed for small game. most shops like cabelas and bass pro have store brand carbon arrows that run about 40$ a doz. and even walmart has arrows for a couple bucks a piece. save yourself a lot of headache and invest in proper archery equipment

DCA is correct on this one. 30lbs might seem like a lot but it will take a bow that strong to penetrate a Rabbit or Squirrel effectively to bring it down and not just wound it. I would think it possible that tape fletched dowels would work, the real question would be can you shoot them accurately enough to hit your intended target. I'm personally impressed with your accomplishment here.......

I know that they make recurves as low as 5lb draw weight but I wouldn't recommend going quite that low 10-15 would be good

here here on the 30 lbs. Anything else and the rabbit has time to jump before the impact as well.
