When I was your age, I intellectually knew I was loved but because I was so depressed, I felt unlovable. You need to see a doctor or counsellor and get some help from a trained professional about the way you feel.

Your mum loves you but she is not trained to help you deal with this, so accept her love and support, but get some proper advice about this because depression is a real medical condition that can be helped with the right treatment. You don't need to think that being depressed means you are suicidal and the self harming is a counterproductive coping mechanism you developed to alleviate mental suffering. None of this is your fault and if you ask for help, you will receive it.

I know you hurt and feel alone now, but the situation is a temporary phase of your life even if you can't see the other side yet and you are far from being isolated. You just need specialized help and support.

Hi.

Perhaps you have experienced some distress in your life, which has never been dealt with? Sometimes we bury our problems instead of facing them and realizing that what happened in our past was not our fault.

You are only 17, and there is plenty of time to get married and have kids.

Right now, it's time to start taking care of YOU. Maybe you can opt for some therapy to get to the bottom of this, and to realize that your feelings are important -- and that there are ways to cope and get through this.

it takes work to change, and therapy does work when we work it, and are consistent.

I sure hope you will make an effort to figure out what the problem(s) is, and do what it takes to make your life more manageable.

You deserve good help!

Life opens and closes many doors for us life isnt easy and god it throws crap at you but you have to face it head on and rise above this its just a stage in life where you feel like nothing is moving forward but it soon will your still young and live it while its here you'll find someone for yourself they will accept you for who you are.
Try to stop self harm as this dents your confidence try taking the pain out on something else then you divert take up karate or punch a pillow not yourslef because you may always be reminded of the pain you once felt i know i cannot say anything to make you stop i just hope to advise you its not your fault life is treating you wrong but stand up and pick up the pieces and carry on walking find an amibtiion you like I.e Animals,Swimming,Football etc etc and have fun!

There are times when being alone brings you face to face with your fears, doubts and yourself. I learned that these times are not to be avoided, but to be embraced and researched within the psyche. I used to feel alone but I never was. You'll understand the principle when you stop the self-pity program. You have the "keys", desire to live, looking toward the future. If there are others who cut you down, so? You lived another day, didn't you? Time to grow up, kid.

I guess your worst enemy in this little battle of yours is yourself. Your mom's right, you shouldn't let other people get you down. One thing you have to accept about life is that you can't please everybody. And, trying to prove otherwise will only continue to frustrate you. So don't mind the ones who hate you. Just be thankful for the people who love you. Learn to love yourself-- unconditionally! Once you're able to learn to love yourself for the rocking person that you are-- flaws included, you will start feeling good about not only you, but the world you live in.

You should go to counseling and then maybe see a psychologist. I don't think you actually love yourself. Do you have any self-worth? Meaning, do you have a reason to be here on this earth? Find that reason and you will probably start feeling differently.

im surrounded by friends and family who really do care but i do sometimes feel alone.why i dont know.ive never self harmed but have often thought about it.you should really try get out of that.maybe take up some hobbie your good at that makes you feel good about yourself.there are people out there who will not like you and try to bring you down, try to make you look stupid, try to make you look like a fool so they look smart.for them you have two choices ignore them, or bring them like they bring you down.im not talking about violence here im talking about outsmarting them.generally stupid people try to bring down people smarter than them.but they're stupid after all so dont let them bring you own.

Aww, hun...I wanna get married and have kids too.
But...17?
lol...give it sometime...you'll get your chance at marriage soon enough.
And I feel alone a lot of times too.
I think just about everyone does at one point or another.

Try perhaps getting a hobby that you know youre already pretty good at.

Listen to your mother. Negative self esteem like you show will bring you bad choices in life and you will end up even more sad and confused.
