Wal-Mart, sporting goods stores and the like do not carry checkerd flags. You might be able to find some plastic ones at a party supply store (where they carry plates, napkins, wrapping paper, party favors and that sort of stuff) that will complete your outfit.

Parramatta City Raceway has them in the merchandise store. The raceway is located at Granville, near Parramatta. Im sure they will have something to suit, they hold car races every Saturday and currently in their racing season. Woo hoo speedway racing and Monster Trucks this weekend 27th Oct 07, should be fun - plus other things like Jet Van Fireworks etc. Anyway, Contact them to find out more: www.parramattacityraceway.com.au

try flagman.com. I know they do sell them but I am not sure if I could put there full idem address here so just go there and you can see what they have to offer. Looks like there real deal is around the $20 to $30 range. Hope it's a winner for you.

If you are in the least bit artsy and crafty, you can get checkered material from stores like Wal-mart or K-mart or any sewing store. Roll the edges and stitch them. They look neat.
If not then try any of the race fans shops on line.

I've seen mobile vendors selling them at all the races I've ever attended. They wander around the sites like the stereotypical "Balloon Sellers" of yore. (Watch for them outside the gates, too!)
They are often a bit cheaper than resorting to the gift shops (who have a higher overhead.)
Good Luck in finding the one you want, and have loads of fun at your event! (It sounds like FUN!)
