... when you're about to give a presentation or to take an important exam?

I suffer from that ALL the time. My stomach feels weird and I'm overly excited, even when resting. It's also very easy to get me startled.
I had a baby last year and now my problem is a lot worse.

What is this and what to do?

I don't drink coffee/alc, smoke or anything.

What comes to mind is two possible reasons for your feeling.

1. Your thyroid is out of whack. This is a common occurence after you've had a baby. The hormones out of balance. And when this happens, anxiety is a by-product. This happened to me about a year after I had my first child btw.

or

2. You're experiencing anxiety.

What you do is see your medical doctor first and check out yourself physically. If all is well, then your doc can prescribe you an anti-anxiety medication or send you to a psychiatrist or therapist.

I personally, would opt for seeing a psychiatrist over seeing a therapist. A psychiatrist knows psychology as a therapist does, but can also prescribe medicine, whereas a therapist cannot.

Some people are just more jumpy than most. If you really want it to stop you should see a general care doctor and he might refer you to a specialist. This should be no problem if you have health insurance, but if you don't then try some aroma therapy of other herbal solutions. I believe what you have is anxiety...

I am a nursing student currently doing my mental health rotation. What u seem to be describing may be a condition called generalized anxiety. In this disorder a person is anxious, restless and jumpy but there are no precipitating or specific causative factors. You should speak to your doctor about your condition and she/he may prescribe you an anti-anxiety med such as Ativan (lorazepam). Good luck!

This is anxiety. Even tough a certain level of anxiety is needed to survive things, sometimes in some people this level gets high and becomes an obstacle. This is an easily treated situation. You can see a therapist or counseler.

There could be many causes and many solutions, but often with anxiety the solution is to WORK it out of you. not so much mentally , but physically. if you go sport, and workout real hard, you have way less energy to remain so high strung... I am a hyper kind of person too and I hate name tags like ADHD or, Manic, or... whatever you want to call it... just adapt to your LEVEL of energy.... if you got lots, spend lots. ( energy that is ;-))
I would suggest you try this consistently for at least three months before you go to the doctor and perhaps specialist or psychiatrist. You can then tell them that you tried to sport it out.... BEFORE you get stuffed with all kinds of meds you might not need!!

There are all kinds of anxiety disorders, some brought about by non obvious circumstances (say, a trauma brought about during early childhood), others brought about by raw blood chemistry (treatable with drugs).

Go see your doctor. Be prepared to be refered to a specialist. Tracking this thing down could be quite easy or a pain-in-the-butt.

It sounds like an anxiety disorder, you really need to seek medical advice as soon as you can, these kinds of problems can lead to serious disorders and phobias.

sounds like you might have an axiety issue, its not a big deal but it can be really annoying. and you are probably the only one who notices it. you probably seem "uppity" or "bubbly" you can talk to a dr about it, just to see if they can help you out a little. god luck and God bless
