I've often wondered about this.
It shows that the U.S. Justice system is seriously flawed because there are way too many convictions based on circumstantial evidence without solid proof. It all boils down to who has the most persuasive legal representation rather than which side is right or wrong.

For me death penalty is totally and unconditionally unacceptable in any case whatsoever.

Not giving the opportunity for forgiveness, change and bettering is totally contrary to the ethical and spiritual foundations of Western civilization, likewise absolutely irreconcilable with modern (and Christian) humanitarian, democratic consciousness and international agreements on human rights. It's a shame the US as one of the extremely few exceptions in the democratic world doesn't adopt this part of humane norms.

Does it make me a bad person to say that I'd be OK with that? I don't want to see innocent people killed, don't get me wrong, but as a juror I would be forced to make my decision based on the information presented to me. If the evidence I was shown convinced me enough to decide that the person was guilty, then so be it. No one has all the answers, and our system is flawwed. All systems are flawwed, so you just have to choose the one with lesser evils.

They wouldn't let me sit on a jury in a state with the death penalty, because I don't approve of the death penalty.

Remember, in capital cases, it's a jury of your peers who believe in the death penalty.

this is a hard one-depends on the case i guess-but i would be a hard person to convince and dont if i would get picked anyhow-about the only way it could happen is if someones was lying on the stand and i would be pushing hard for their conviction on murder charges----good question-smile and enjoy the day ---and i did mean someones would have a real hard time accepting just one persons testimony

I wouldn't be on that jury....because in a trial where the death penalty is on the table they ask you could you send someone to death.......and I would say no...and they would excuse me.

So this wouldn't happen to me.

I don't support the death penalty, so I think they would have kicked me off the panel before the trial began.

Hypothetically, though, if it happened, I would feel absolutely horrible. (I would feel horrible even if he/she was guilty though)

That would be awful. But it would be worse if a person were found not guilty and they turned out to be guilty and later committed other horrible crimes.

This is my main reason for being anti-death penalty. You just can't take it back.
