It explains why he is a darling of the far-left libs and is never held accountable for his behavior. The man has insulted blacks and women and now the United States Military.

Just another example of Marin County values.

To be perfectly honest with you, I wasn't even aware that there was a Congressman Pete Starks, so his position on the existence or non-existence of divine beings is a matter of no particular consequence to me.

His record is what is important but looking at what the left does I would say he is not fair to Christians as the left fights against this which is against the very argument they use to allow others the protection it is designed to protect, which is the freedom of not from.

They allow atheist and Muslims and others to gather in public places and slam the Christan's. So this is a very important issue.

Strangely, he's the only one, while most polls say 14% of Americans are Atheists. You'd think 14% of representatives would then be atheists.

The question should not arise - is he a good honest politician who will represent those who elected him?

There are plenty of corrupt, ineffectual or just plain useless politicians who claim affinity to one religion or other to prove that religion has no influence over how worthy someone is to hold public office.

Well, thats one :P

I think a lot of other politicians are agnostic/atheist - particularly the secular ones, but they will never admit it,since there is a stigma attached to not believing in God.

Someone once remarked that the fact that anyone would desire to be a Politician should bar them from ever being one.
I am beginning to see the logic in this.

Does it really matter as long as he is up holding and obeying all the laws we have, which would be setting the right example for the people who voted for him?

Finally someone who isn't a theist and isn't afraid of saying so made it into the government. Perhaps there is a god, because that sounds like a miracle to me.
