A wise preacher once said; "I have had cadillacs and I have given them up. Having a cadillac doesn't make you more spiritual and giving them up doesn't make you more spiritual either."
The Bible says, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world the love of the Father is not in Him. For all that is of the world, the lust of the heart, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life is not of the Father but of the world, and the world passes away and the lusts therof, BUT he that does the will of the Father will abide forever."
Real Christians look at the things you talk about as needy but temporary. They care little whether they have them or not, and trust God to provide WHAT THEY NEED. If a person is all wrapped up in worldly possessions I would seriously be suspecting they are not walking with God as shown in the verses above. It is one thing to own stuff - another thing for the stuff to own you.
I would say your friend has some serious problems if she is indeed jealous of those who are prospering. God knows what is best for her - just as he does for everyone else - If she can't accept that she is in need of repentance.
Perhaps she is not a Christian as you suppose. Going to a church doesn't make anyone a Christian. A Christian is one who has let God change them from the inside out. It is a matter of the heart submitting to God. When that happens right thinking and right living will follow.

It is not wrong for a Christian to have 'nice things'
What is wrong though, is when a Christian begins to 'covet' those things more than God,
It says in the Bible.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
More often than not, those who are rich, begin to have no need for God, while it is possible to be wealthy and still remain faithful to God, it is very very difficult, not impossible, but very difficult.
The Bible says this about that.
Mar 10:25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

I don' t agree with this entirely. The bible says that God has come so that we can have life and that more abundantly. He wants us to enjoy life, but not to the point that the things we are enjoying are consuming and corrupting us or taking away from us giving him thanks for the things he does in our lives.
There is something to be said for sacrifice, but not living as a martyr. Sounds like this person is full of jealousy and might not even realize it. You should be a good example to her and remind her that her light is not shining if she continues to act this way. She should be winning souls for Christ and if she is jealous of what everyone else has she is showing that the God in her life is not a provider. Since this is not true, and those of us who know the Lord as a REWARDER of those who diligently seek him, she needs to spend some time in prayer asking God to cleanse her heart.

God wants Christians blessed with things and abundant lives when they get their priorities right. When Christians seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness God will give them all the things they need:
Matthew 6:31-33 "Therefore do not worry, saying, "What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

I am glad I do not have much, because I know where all my things I have come from. We have enough each week to pay bills and eat maybe out once in that week. God gave us a car one time, and man what a car it was. It has over 200,000 on it when given to us. We put over 200,000 on it when we had it.

It is untrue. I am Christian, and I wish to dress nice and have a nice life here and such. I do not, however, place these temporary pleasures in my mortal existance above that which I can look foreward to in the afterlife.

Unless you expect a Christian to go about naked and starving all the time, there is a world of difference in using the things of this Earth and actually falling in love with them.

We need to differentiate between 'need' and 'greed'.
As to your Christian neighbor, I don't have sufficient information to comment on her.
My advice to you would be to do a spell check before posting your questions or go to http://www.onelook.com/

First i like to know if u are a Child of God? If so stay away from ur neighbour! If she is dealing with coveteousness..then let her...but keep praying for ur neighbour okay. in John 10:10 Jesus said" the thief cometh to steal, kill and to destroy;but I came so that i may give life and life in abundance!"
So Jesus our God wants us to ENJOY our life! Everything we have is from him. He wants us to prosper in everyway not just in wealth. Spiritually,Materially, physically!!
If u see a christian having a bad time not enjoying the loife God has given him/her..its upto u to read her the word of God. Coz they lack knowledge of Jesus words.
If ur neighbour says stuff u dont agree with or hate...jsut take it easy and stay away from her coz she may hinder ur spiritual growth and blessings. but dont forget to pray for her. DOnt be mad coz we are all humans. the dEvil is the one who tries to bring sin in to ppls lives.
