Age does matter...ask the police

Yes, age matters a lot. In most states if this relationship became sexual, he could be thrown in jail for statutory rape of a minor.

Also, here's the thing. There should be a massive maturity gap between a 14 year old and a 19 year old. The 14 year old is barely in high school. The 19 year old, should be in college, or working full time. They should, if they have not already, be considering moving out of their parents house. They really should be in two different places in life.

Now fast forward to the future and a five year age gap is nothing. But while she is just 14, it ought to be a very big difference.

If the girl had of been past 18 it really doesnt make a difference because older men make better bfs most of the time, but seeing as shes only 14 I actually think its a bit weird that a 19yr old is willing to look at her twice no matter how mature or nice she is. If the tables were turned, Im 20 next month and I would look at a 14yr old boy as a child. Anything else is perverted. At least shes smart enough that shes knows it would be weird. Some girls would be happy to jump into it for the sake of having an older bf. Tell her to stay well clear of him.

In most cases age done matter...but in the situation you have explained it is NOT OK!!
Even though ur friend only seems kinda interested she is in for trouble ..besides it being illegal, she is 14....just starting with the whole dating thing..she may not or I will say IS NOT ready for what the 19 yr old may be offering..he at 19 should know better...Y a young man of that age would want a 14 yr old..is creepy...if he is a good guy than he can wait until this lil girl grows up some and takes the steps required for her age limit...she needs to take things slow...to many young ppl get into adult situations and dont realize it till its too late...

If she came to you with this..as a friend you need to be bold and tell her she needs to slow down and if she is ready to date than to go for someone in her age group...she will thank you for it later...
take care and good luck.....hugz

It really depends.

Is she mature enough for a 19 year old? Is the 19 yr old looking for 1 thing? Its definatly illegal... which is a problem. A 19 yr old has been through a lot more than a 14 year old which can lead to many problems. I dont think age matters in a lot of cases, but in a case like that, there is a big difference between a 14 yr old and a 19 yr old, even though its only 5 years. If it was a 24 yr old and a 29 yr old, thats different.

Age matters when you're this young because depending on your state's law this can be a crime. Sometimes if the two people are close enough in age it isn't, but I think in my state it has to be three years age difference or less. The 19 year old should be worried about getting in trouble with the police. Your friend could talk to him about this and ask him to check out what your state's law says.

Also, it is totally acceptable for your friend to feel weird. There is a big maturity difference between a 14 year old and a 19 year old. One of the reasons that he may be attracted to her is because it is relatively easy to manipulate someone that young. If your friend feels uncomfortable with him, that's normal and she should not be with him. .

yes, age definitely matters when you are a teenager. that's because the things that a 14year old has to deal with and is going through on a daily basis is COMPLETELY different than a 19 year old
after 25-30 it starts getting a little different.
it is really fun to get attention from older guys when you are 14 but don't try to make a relationship out of it. believe me, when you get 19, there will be 40 year olds hitting on you.

At her age....Age does matter. Too many years between them at that age. If they were in their late 20's or 30's it wouldn't matter but a 19yr old shouldn't be chasing 14 year olds. If that was my sister that boy would be looking over his shoulder. Its just creepy. Also, ask yourself why is a 19 year old chasing a 14 yr old to begin with....probably because he can't get girls his own age so he preys on younger, more naive girls who may think its cool to date an 'older' guy.

Age does matter at certain times in life......And this is one where it definitely does matter. 19 year old boy probably has had and will want more sex. 14 year old girl hopefully has not and is not mature enough for that kind of step. Keep the two apart at all costs. Take it from me, boys only care about one thing.

Yes, it does. She isn't even the age of consent in most states! Why the heck would a 19 year old guy even like a 14 year old? That's the equivalent of a freshman in high school with a freshman or even sophomore in college! That's a world of difference, and illegal! If they had sex, he would be in big trouble, lets just put it that way.

the younger you are, the more it matters. at say 44 and 49, who cares about 5 years. But at 14 and 19 it is way too much difference.
