From what I understand, that is the only option given by MySpace. It's probably just an oversight on their part. I don't think any specific religious affiliation is implied by it.

Protestants are groups of religious people who broke away from the Catholic Church. some non-denominational Christians do not belong to a church that broke off from the Catholic church. Most non denominational Church's have left from Protestant churches and have no connection at all with protesting the control of the Catholic church. Jehovah's witness is not a protestant church. Seventh Day adventist is not a protestant church. Most Bible Churches are not protestant either. The main protestant churches are Lutheran, Presbetarian, Baptist, and Methodist. Therefore it leaves room for many non protestant churches which are also Christian.

There are plenty of people who feel the term "protestant" still puts them in the category of an organized religion. That is, a religion which was created many years ago, has a lot of churches in different locations, usually has a common ritual and hymn book, and so on. They typically have a creed they recite which states what they are all expected to believe as part of that denomination.

Independent is usually what is meant by "other." They either go to a non-denominational church or they don't usually go to church, but worship privately.

well it could be that they think protestant is a denomination and that they dont know that it means basically all the groups that arent catholic go in there.
