And after graduation was the liberty overnight or did you have to go back at a certain time?

hey i just got out in august they have calling cards at the nex you can buy when u go occasionally you dont get a phone call till like the 4th week and then another right before graduation. NO graduation liberty is not overnight you have to be back at a certain time and if you have a duty that weekend you have to be back even earlier.

I went about 2 yrs ago, not that recent but it shouldn't have changed that much. I was only able to call home 3 times and I was there for Christmas. Some divisions got to make calls every week. There are calling cards you can buy there or have someone mail you more if you need more. One was more than enough for me. After graduation you have to come back at a certain time each night. I don't remember how late it was.

I did not go through navy bmt... air force... but we had the opportunity to buy a calling card at the BX... I would suggest getting a reloadable phone card. Your training is 9 weeks long right? Just from my experience in air force bmt... the best of best situation, plan for 15 minutes each week... so at least a phone card with 150 minutes should last you... you can of course get more because you will have more time once you are in your tech school and you can always use the minutes ;) You can buy 1000 minutes at walmart for like 50 dollars, that will be plenty enough for basic and probably teach school too and if its not, you can recharge it over the phone. you will be required to be back in your barracks by either 8 or 9 pm each night.
as for calling cards.. depends. you may not be getting phone privileges at all during Boot Camp. mine certainly didn't. he only got to call the last week , and then only because he was off base as part of the Triple Threat band that was performing elsewhere.
