I'm trapped between choosing to convert into Born-Again Christianity or just stay as a Catholic. My dad told me that Born Agains are narrow minded and self-righteous. He even added that they will not be welcomed to God's kingdom because of their self-righteousness. Sometimes I feel that attending services (at a Born Again Church) is much better because we can be alive in praising God rather than just following a ritual. I really need help because I'm so confused. I can't stop thinking about it...

Pastor Billy says: ouch I've just answered your other question and now realise I should have answered this one first.
Sounds to me like you are having an emotional experience and are caught up it what the Protestants call "fellowship". Church however is more than merely a meeting place or "fellowship". The true Church of Christ is both a physical an spiritual entity, it is also the Body of Christ to which Christ is the Head. To be the Body the Church must be a remainder so as to claim to be the remnant Church of end-times. Which so-called "born again" Evangelical Protestant movement actually as a lineage back to Jesus and the Apostles circumventing Catholicism? answer, none!

Learn your Catholic faith before making this serious decision. I know myself because I rediscovered my ancient Christian faith in Catholicism after a relationship with a Baptist.

Remember Church is more than a vibrant preacher, more than an emotional experience, more than some loosely affiliated fellowship. It is being One Holy Apostolic and Catholic.

You don't need a religion. What you need is a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. You need to accept Him as your Lord and Savior. If you confess with you mouth the Lord Jesus and Believe in you heart that God raise Him from the dead you will be saved. (Born Again ) For with the heart man believes and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. There are narrow minded and self-righteous people in All denominations including Catholic.
One thing that other denominations do not do is pray to Mary or through Mary. The Bible tell us to pray to God in the name of Jesus because Jesus is our Great High Priest of our confession. He is the mediator between God and man.
I would definately convert. My husband was Catholic and he converted. He said that he has had more prayers answered in the last 10 years than he had in the other 50 yrs.
God Bless You

While many born again folks can be just what your father said, I also know some wonderful, spirit filled folks who are born again. If ritual doesn't bring you closer to God, then by all means Go with Born again. We should be born again each Sunday, but I realize some Priests are real snoozers. I am an Independent Catholic myself, and there are Charismatic Catholics that you should check out.
So you have a wide range of choices. Don't box yourself in. As long as you profess Christ Crucified and risen, and have him in your heart, follow his greatest commandment (to love the Lord your God above all others and to love your neighbor as yourself) You are doing fine-
Don't stop taking communion!

From a former Catholic.
I was also at a place where you are at. I didn't see the importance of following what God wanted in my life. To me back then religion was paying my duty to God and saying to God, "I believe in you."
I believed in him but I didn't know him. Then one night I dreamed that Jesus came to me and shown me he was God. As I knelt before him in this dream he picked my head up and kissed me like a father would kiss his son. I felt something surge through my entire being at that time and awoke from the dream. I still felt this euphoria as I laid there looking at the ceiling in the room. I knew right then and there that God was more then the Catholics could show me and I became born again Christian. The reason it is called "Born Again", is because the Spirit of God truly enters your body and changes your life. This I know because the day after I committed my life as a Born Again believer I actually felt this same euphoria enter my entire being. I was change right then and there. I no longer wanted the chewing tobacco I was addicted to for 20 years that same day. I didn't desire alcohol or drugs I was addicted to. My life seemed so clear before my eyes and I began making good sound choices that have led me into greater blessing. I still have people get mad at me or don't like me, problems at work, financial decisions that are difficult, relationship issues, but I have a peace that I can not describe through it all. My life is so much happier since I met Jesus and committed my all to him.
God bless. Keep searching and you will find him.

Wow your dad sounds narrow minded to talk about us like that, no offence. There is a big difference in these two religions, I can say I know what you believe, my close friend is a catholic, we talk about this all the time. What your dad says about not being welcomed into God's kingdom is plain opinion. The only way is through Jesus Christ, salvation. We are not self righteous we believe in the scripture that says "no not one is righteous" (can't remember). Yes you are right catholic is so much about rituals and traditions, but do you know Christ said not to follow traditions? Matthew 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

Hi Paolo,
I am SOooo glad you cannot stop thinking about this!!! That means that God is working on your heart....and you are LISTENING!! Awesome! I have a Bible text for you....
"For I know the thoughts I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (hope in the end) Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I WILL HEARKEN unto you.
And ye shall seek me, and FIND me, when ye shall search for me with ALL YOUR HEART." Jeremiah 29:11-13
Pray that promise to God because He DOES want you to be born again and have a new heart. He will listen and you will find Him. I will pray for you to follow God's direction in His Word.

narrow minded is not bad. The bible said that Jesus is THE way John 14:6. That is very narrow minded.

Matt 7 12Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

there is only one way to heaven and only one truth.

God said the way to heaven is narrow. the crown (or popular opinion) is headed to hell.

Find a church that used the king james bible and not mans word.

The catholic church is based on mans writings not the bible.
