How could the bible be true if the pagans worshipped a god who was ressurected in three days, cured a blind man and turned water into wine? He was called Mythria and this was 2,000 years B.C. Isntn't Christianity a big rip off of this?

First of all, the original form of the Bible has been heavily modified compared to the one that is accepted by the Church.

During the early years of the first millennium (if I remember correctly), when the Church was trying to gain ore influence over people, it was decided that an official version of the Bible needed to be available.

Up until then, there were a lot of biblical texts available. Some contained God's message, but some were just rubbish. Problem was, that it was quite difficult to find out which was which, especially as some of these texts have been around for quite some time.

Basically, the Church made a selection, based on what was more convenient for itself during that period.

Second, it is a well known fact, that Christianity has taken many if its ideologies from Judaism and a Roman philosophical current called stoicism.

Third, every religion is ultimately adapted to local customs, otherwise it could never survive. You can't just go up to a nation an demand to radically change their way of life because you have a given version of truth.

Also, my personal belief is as follows: there is only one God. But each religion interprets his messages differently due to different cultural backgrounds. I suspect that in the end, a lot of what religious authorities are advocating for is not at all close to what God actually wants from us.

OK, so I'm not Christian (though I have had a Christian religious education) but I do believe in the existence of God.

I don't see it as a rip off I see it as the cycle repeating itself. If you understand how Karma works then this should be easy to grasp. There are a few gods before Christ who stories are similar. Can't it be that this will continue to happen during each "age" until we get it right.

It's the message that is important not the details.

If you think of the Bible as a historical document, some dry legalistic textbook of rules and regulations, do's and don'ts, laws to be followed to be obeyed, etc. - it will never make any sense to you. It will seem confusing, chaotic, contradictory, inconsistent.

But when you accept the Bible as the Word of God, living and active, alive and powerful, able to speak to you and your circumstance today right now, whatever it may be - then you will truly know the truth.

In short - without the Spirit of God, the Bible is impossible to interpret.

With the Spirit of God in your heart, the Bible is life itself.

Zeitgeist right? I watched that movie but I wasnt impressed. Satan is good at counterfeiting. If you actually do some research on mithra, you'll see that he's totally different from Jesus. Christ is unique, Not a copy or a rip-off of a rip-off as one person stated earlier.

you're statement is not based on facts.
Even the people in Jesus days admitted that no one had "EVER" cured a blind man since birth before. There have always been imitators of the true Christ, but only one original

Not if you believe that Jesus is the "One" Christianity is not a rip off of the cult of Mythia. It all depends on your point of view.

Satan understands Gods word and his plan perfectly . HE was around the throne of God

He has over the centuries created false religion (Catholic Church, Mormons) false Gods (Santa, Pope, Mary) and has deceived people into believe things so close to the bible that they stray away from the truth.

Every false way has great truth in it.

1. God loves your enough to put truth in your cult
(I can lead a person to Christ in the Book of Mormon)
2. Satan knows we are attracted to Gods ways so he mimics them.

He will put forth the anti-christ claiming it is Jesus.

He is using the same trick he has since the garden.

There were many people of the time around Jesus that had followers, were said to have healed the sick, walked on water and all of that. Jesus was but one in a sea of messiahs. Most of these were also said to have been arrested, and killed, then resurrected and ascended to heaven. Christianity is not only a rip off, but a rip off of a rip off.
