My son is 10 and he works for our neighbors as the "pooper scooper"... charging 25 cents a poop with a max of $10 a visit and he only cleans up their yards every couple of days.

The neighbors love not having to clean up after their dogs themselves and he loves making just enough money to spend on things like walkie-talkie wrist watches and other little gadgets that little boys adore.

If your neighbors have dogs, this job is a great way for a young boy to have a responsibility without putting too much pressure on him to be on a strict schedule.

Your son should not have to be worrying about making money at 10 yrs old. He should be focused on his school work, extra-curricular activities, and just being a kid. You can give him household chores to do...but U need to be a Parent and take care of ur child financially.

it depends on whose paying. if you as a parent are, i say chores around the house. for example: wash dishes, laundry, take out trash, help set dinner table, etc. if you mean by other people, be careful about letting him do odd jobs for other people. make sure that you know them. my kids like to sell kool-aid and lemonade, but that's a seasonal thing.

when my brother and i was little we would get up everymorning when it had snowed and shovel walk ways. If it was a snow day we would walk around and spend all day doing it. If it wasnt we would just get up earlier and do it b4 school to the closest neighbors.

Odd jobs and paper route are the best way to do it. If there is a golf course he could pick up the balls.

Begging is bad thing to do. So make him do a small job, like washing window, cleaning and helping people needing help etc.
