The Bible tells us that hell is deep inside the earth, but science has proven different, how does that add up to christians ?

From science we know that the center of the earth is a super heated solid of primarily nickel/crystalized, but christians believe that hell is deep down in the earth, even powerful christian leaders who have had "visions" of hell say its a huge area open and cave like, in the center of the earth,
Science is stating this isnt possible, please explain how christians still make account for this

Could it be a translation error? So many meanings were changed when the original writings were translated.

Many times the translator ran across something he was not sure of he used words to describe it that he understood. It is my understanding that at the time the bible was translated into "King James", people thought the world was flat. So to People of that time where was the "Heart of the earth"?

The Hebrew children did not believe in a hell, the grave was the end for them.

I am the Archbishop of Canterbury (really) and I'm also 14 years old but can pass for much older or I'd never have scored this gig. Anyhow, what was the question? Oh yeah, did you evolve from an ape? No way, it was a three-toed sloth -- great survivors, sloths. As for God making the world in six days...it's true and just look at the results. It shows that when you do things in a hurry you make mistakes. And sure you can be a science person if you'd like. I'd rather be a rock star myself but I've no talent for it so I became an archbishop instead. You don't get as many chicks being an archbishop but you get to wear cool hats. Yes, of course you can cure AIDS with a prayer but it has to be just the right prayer. I'd tell you what it is but it we have a non-disclosure agreement with the major drug companies. Sorry.

Where and when was it ever announced that hell wasn't in earth?
Love, the bible, like most books in the time was written by poets and philosophers.
This in mind and keeping in step with time, knowing how extremely difficult, expensive and time consuming to make books and what not, they needed to be something beautiful or they would be cast away. (for clarity since the questioner needs it when I say "cast" I'm in no way referring to any sort of performers, broken limbs, or attempting to capture fish recreationally or otherwise.) And were these said books cast away it would mean years of careful preparation and a lot of money of the writer would be lost. Then Quality counted. -Beautiful, Original, Interesting and Elegant or it would be lost to time.
Why is it people don't see the metaphors they use themselves and clarify them like the demand clarification from the texts they criticize? Especially when criticizing ancient works that anyone who's studied literature in high school knows the works are often not history but poetry.
For example the bible didn't "tell" me this, last I checked it couldn't speak. Does the questioner believe books can speak? And what is this "add up to" I see nothing referring to mathematics here... are we talking theology or arithmetic?
You know fun stuff like that.
Finally, because it has to be said: DISPITE what you might have seen from movies like "The CORE" (as seen last night channel 5 at about 9pm) NO one has ever been to the centre of the earth no one has ever so much as touched the mantel of the earth last I checked.
Then the Theory of the centre of the earth being solid... Since that's all it is- a THEORY not a proof. Since in science when the idea is good but CAN’T be PROVEN it's called a "theory". Like the THEORY of Evolution for example). This theory can't be correct in my opinion. Sorry but lava on the surface of the earth MELTS COMPLETELY things like nickel and Iron I don't see how it could be in the centre and still be solid when, on the earth where lava is a hundred times cooler and less pressurized it melts like an ice cube.
BUT if this core exists as a solid mass as stated on "The Core" last night, no one has ever been inside of it nor do we have the ability to see the centre. Prove hell isn't inside that mass.
Personally I think _if_ hell exists it's on earth. Take a look around.

Oh Gah. And one other thing. NOT everyone in the day believed the earth was flat. Galileo for example...

These answers are a brilliant demonstration of how religious people deal with problems with their religion. In this case, their holy book has explicitly stated that hell is deep within the earth. Science has shown that to be false.

Five paths are now open to the deluded believer:

1. Claim the science is wrong (see evolution).
2. Claim the science actually supports the ridiculous idea (see the simpleton comment about volcanoes above) and ignore the problem.
3. Claim the bible is metaphorical or was mis-interpreted (see creation).
4. Change the bible (as stated above, newer bibles are just being changed to leave out this inconvenient problem).
5. Mad ranting and quoting blatantly untrue anecdotes as fact (see wynner01's answer).

Not too long ago archeologists (sorry for the spelling) found a script carved in stone. So there are some physical evidence that the history in the Bible has happened the way it says it has. In regaurds to your question, I'm still in the middle of my battle to follow God, so I really don't know that much yet. But I would only think it was a metaphore, like someone else has stated in their response.

The Bible says that hell enlarges Its self daily. Volcanoes are proof that Hell exists. They erupt from the center of the earth where they originate. Your soul Is priceless. Don't worry about what others think. Only where you'll spend eternity. You like me and everybody else will spend It somewhere. I've chose Jesus Christ therefore making heaven my home. He's already paid the price for your sins. All you have to do Is except His sacrifice. Even If you don't He still loves you,but you'll spend an eternity wishing you did. Forget all the religious & denominational stuff. Don't get caught up In all that manmade tradition, you'll get lost. Just ask Jesus Into your heart and let him give you a clean fresh slate. A fresh start ! It all comes down to this. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and reading the Bible daily and He will change you lilttle by little. As the Bible puts It from glory to glory. Then find a church that teaches the Whole Bible and run the race. Stay strong..Blessings

First we have to consider the fact that the Bible we read today is the REVISED(strike 1), TRANSLATION (strike 2), of somebody's VERSION (strike 3) of what someone said, John said, that Jesus said. Almost all of it is written in the third person (strike 4). (HERESAY)
Theres a man in prison somewhere being passed around the cell block for cigarrettes. The worst part is... he shouldn't even be in jail cuz he's innocent. Ask him where hell is.

Science has not proven there is no Hell. Has anyone been to the center of the earth? This is not the Hell the Bible speaks of but I just wondered if anyone has been there. Hell is eternity separated from God, where exactly it or Heaven is on the map I'm not sure nor care to know.

But where, exactly, does the Bible tell us that Hell is in the centre of the Earth?

The Core of the Earth has not been mapped, that is why we still explore for oil and gold etc. What is below the mantle of the earth is guessed at. The outer crust is somewhere between 1-2000 liles thick and thicker in places.
The Israelies tried to drill into the core some years ago but scientists (including their own) warned them not to as is might destabilize the mantle.
In Russia about 15-20 years ago scientists were drilling and put a microphone down the hole, several thousand feet.
One of the recordings scared the peanut butter out of them.
It was of humans screaming. there is a copy of it on the internet, google it.
They were Communist, atheist and skeptics. Hmmmmm!
I guess this evidence you will scoff at because you do not want to believe. You will rationalize it away.
The place spoken of in the Bible Hades is in the Earth and it is a temporary holding area. An area below that is called Tartarus where the fallen angels are kept. The bottomless pit seems to be attached to this. Where could a place be that is bottomless? At the centre of the Earth because all directions are up. Remember these creatures are spirits and are not consumed by magma. There could be large voids there, empty bubbles, cavern like places.
This is not a final abode. The Bible speaks of Outer darkness and the Lake of Fire in Revelation and it is future and reserved for Satan(Lucifer) and His minions.
You speak of myth and legend that have grown around this topic. You must study further in the Bible and especially the words of Jesus to arrive at the truth. Google Sounds from Hell, Hell recordings etc. It will surprise you. A Russian Communist discovery.
