the wings of angelics are not "neccesary" in that sense. but...
where we have a discrete physical form, and live in a discrete physical world, relatively speaking, the spiritual side of things isn't as defined.
for example, if theres a "gateway" then one person might see a big medeival door, one person might see a stargate, one person might see a star-trek like wormhole, some might see a door frame, ect... none of these would be "wrong" as such, but really that they are different ways of that person's mind representing that abstract object.
now add to this a bit of a chicken and egg effect. people from one culture might have an image from stories told when they were little, of a certain variety of being having a certain general form, so if they were exposed to it, thats how their mind would represent it to them.
hopefully that might help at least in some way, and hopefully you get what I mean.

I think agels are a group of Eastern European acrobats. They don't need their wings as they don't have any and they fly by wires.
Everything is aerodynamic even a rock, it's how the aerodynamics are applied to the object that would answer your question about angels. Angels being intangible so far have yielded no significant wind tunnel data to this date. If any happen to materialize and the population around them don't either die, or explode or fly up to heaven or something then perhaps we might get some data.
Consider not being so literal as well, even if extradiminsional beings exist they will not be some kind of bird man as they don't live in animal bodies as humans do.

Angels are very plenty misrepresented in the famous worldwide. Cherubs are depicted as lovable little toddler angels, while in reality, in accordance to the Bible, those are the powerul warlords of the angel worldwide. devil himself grew to become into from the Cherubim choir. i do no longer think of they do choose wings to fly. If any angels relatively have wings, i could guess it to be the backside choir, the mother or dad Angels, who could choose wings for applications of interior reach commute in our environment right here on the earth. i'm noticeably confident Archangels don't have wings, inspite of the reality that i think of they're depicted as having them. i think of the "Thrones" are depicted as having 6 wings in the Bible, yet they're additionally coated in eyeballs, so as that they seem to be a noticeably weird and wonderful looking creature. perhaps the wings are for another purpose then flight.

You're right here; those cherubs with their stubby features could hardly be able to take off, unless they jumped from the skies...According to this, they just might be parachutist and that in turn would mean, they stay on Earth once they have jumped from Heaven ! The result should be more and more grounded angels, hopefully with no injuries...

I know that they're very big and If you provoke the one God has given charge over you to anger he can draw his sword and kill you. They don't have the ability to forgive, their only messengers of God. If they don't have the ability to leave the ground then how did Micheal the arch angel fight In the heavenlies ?

Those cherub's wings would have to move as fast as a hummingbird's wings to fly.
