Self absorbed. I am so sick of hearing other people's conversations. And you can't avoid hearing them! This woman in the grocery store the other day, I could STILL hear her gabbing and she had moved on two aisles away.
I think it's tacky, too, when you are hanging with someone and they get a call. They take the call and stay on the phone FOREVER. Hang up the freaking phone and spend some time with your friends!
The worst: those bluetooth ( or whatever ) phones in the ear. People are busy listening to someone on the other end and you say something to them they glare at you like you are supposed to psychically know that they are on the phone.
WTH?

I wouldn't say Gay. I would say Rude. I work in a bakery, and I see it all. How do people expect us to wait on them when they have a phone attached to their ear?? Isn't there a cell phone etiquette list somewhere? I hate to admit it, but I ignore them until they put the phone down. And I also think that when they are talking on the phone when paying for something it makes me feel that they think we are beneath acknowledgment, beneath them.
Before I get off my soapbox, one more thing......next time I go through the drive thru at Mickey D's and the cashier is too busy texting to take my money, some heads are going to roll LOL That also I think is very very rude. They are getting paid to work, not use their cell phones. Okay, I'm done now.....have a nice day! :)

Gay isn't the term I would use but certainly annoying, unnecessary, self-absorbed and in violation of some kind of man law as suggested.
Also I think there should be a man law or even a general law about those blue-tooth ear clip things people wear.
In the car -- OK. Just about anywhere else -- grounds for revocation of male status.

I think using the term gay is rather immature. I do, however, agree it is one of the most annoying "habits." You know, when I worked in retail and someone would come up for help and have their phone attached to the side of their face...I would just ignore them ^_^.

They have no self-esteem and can't stand not to look like they are so important that the phone call just can't wait. I think each person should be allowed to grab one phone and stomp it into pieces a year.
