Hello there! I have searched myself for a Free program that does this and I wasn't able to find any.

If you don't have too many you can copy the files into a different folder and then try renaming them as .jpg files. And of of course windows will say this file may not open if you rename the extension, say yes, it should work fine. It worked for me although it is a bit time consuming.

Also when you are scanning your pictures, see if there is a setting that will allow your pictures to be saved as 'jpgs'so you wont have to change them. It is likely that this .art setting is a default.

Hope this Helps!

I just had this problem. Try editing or opening the picture with paint (start>programs>accessories>paint) and then go to file>save as and when the window appears look below the fie name you will see Save as type and pick what you would like the file to be.

The only free one that i am aware of is an older program that used to be given with all printers and scanners sold in the US. it was Adobe's Photo Deluxe.
This program gave you the ability to make any page one of over 20 different Formats, that included TIFF, PDF, JPEG
