do you think the United States will let that happen? I don' think they will for obvious reasons. Whatever is going on in the Middle east region is mainly world domination.

Almost 2000 years before Islam, King Cyrus the Great, oldest kingdom of Persia, the Man who came up with the first known human rights definitions, carved in stone and currently is kept in the UN.
His kingdom included the whole known world at that time! i wish u could see the map of that great, fair and humane empire? Truly amazing.
Egyptians voluntarily became part of the empire.
BTW, he took over Babylon , and freed all the Jews from slavery.

As long as the greedy and power hungry Elites are in charge the chances of any country to be as great and as humane like Persian empire , are very low. King Cyrus the Great was not only very power full, but also a symbol of Freedom, and justice.

Best Regards.

Edit: Folks i made a correction regarding Roman Empire, my mistake sorry , it was Babylon instead.

Mary jell : Good comments you are very right, Thanks.

Iceman-Unfortunately, Cyrus the great doesn't have any modern counterparts. What we are dealing with now bears no resemblance to what you describe, though it would be nice if it did. Perhaps then there would be someone in that region of the world who wasn't so caught up in factionalism for us to deal with.
The situation in the Mideast bears much more resemblance to the Chinese warlord system or the city-states in pre WW2 Italy than it does to any pre-Islamic Persian Empire.
As to foreseeing a return to the Persian Empire, not until or unless the people of the Mideast can stop trying to kill each other long enough to establish commerce and the free and just society you referred to. I don't see that happening anytime soon.

The Persian Empire died right after the 300 died (seen the movie?). It probably will never return again. Hitler proved to the world that making an empire is damned near impossible to maintain. As for the United States letting it happen, I don't see why we would get involved. In the Middle East every country is extremely friendly with each other country, but does not trust anyone of them. Do you honestly see Iraq joining with Iran or Saudi joining with Lebanon, etc.? Won't happen, Can't happen, Will never happen. Face the facts, the days of "world domination" ended when the United State dropped the second atomic bomb on Japan.

quick side note: conranger1, Islam was not a religion in the time of the Persian empire, it was not formed until around the same time as Christianity.

As for the Persian Empire... Not likely. The Persians of today are more closely related genetically to the Greeks and Indians than the original Persians. Besides Persia is dead, it can never come back, something completely different would have to rise from the remains of the old. and I seriously doubt it would be nearly as successful or influential as its predecessor.

The Persian Empire was founded on Learning, Culture. and Religious tolerance by a secular Muslim society, this concept has not been grasped by the so called Muslim Fundamentalists who want to rule a "You will do as I say State or die".

The Persian Empire used its military to defend its values and beliefs as much as most modern countries go to war nowadays.
