I called to talk my brother over the phone tonight and i asked him about the party he went to . He told me that the mother of the kid who was throwing the party not only went out and brought beer back to the house, but that she also gave it to minors. I found this to be very disturbing. If i called the police to report them could they do something about it or would they have to catch her in the act. I am afraid that one day a child is going to have too much to drink and than want to go out driving afterwards.

Here to help, Even if the kids are being watched i think its a bad idea. We had a kid here in my town who about 10 years ago went to one of those type of partys where the dad supplied drinks. the kid left and ended up hitting and killing a person riding a bike

If they catch her serving alcohol to minors or can corroborate that she did so, and they are not her children, she's in for a rough time. She would / could be charged for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and providing alcohol to a minor, a count for every kid. She is also liable if one of those kids gets injured or killed as a result of drinking at her home, as well as any property damage that might result. (Just imagine one of those kids driving a carload of friends home and getting into an accident and some / all dying. She could be held responsible for all of it, both criminal and civil), up to and including manslaughter charges.

if you find out at any point someone is doing this call and report it. My sister is 14 and was 5 times over the legal limit when they found her passed out in a coma. When she got to the hospital her level was still going up. she spent a week in the hospital and 3 days being drunk after this all went down. I almost lost my sister just over the fact she drank so much so its not even about them getting into cars and driving its just all together a stupid thing for adults to do.

IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO PROVIDE ANY MINOR WITH LIQUOR.

SOME FEEL THAT THEY CAN GIVE THEIR OWN CHILDREN A DRINK OR TWO OR THREE AND AS LONG AS IT IS AT HOME IT IS OK. YOU HAVE THAT RIGHT AS A PARENT. BUT IN THE ABOVE CASE IT WAS GIVEN TO SOME WHO ARE NOT RELATED TO THE FAMILY.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE PARENT GOES TO WATCH TV AND THE KIDS PLAY? GET CAUGHT, DRUNK, WHO PROVIDED THE BOOZE?
IF YOU CALLED THE POLICE THEY COULD DO AN ARREST OF AN ADULT FURNISHING A MINOR(S) BOOZE.
I HAVE WRITTEN A BELLIGERENT AND OBNOXIOUS PARENT UP FOR EACH CHILD THAT WAS AT THE PARTY (22 COUNTS) AND CALLED EACH CHILD'S PARENTS TO COME AND GET THEIR CHILD.

simple don't let them drive. one of the worst teen fatalities around here was the result of someone calling the cops. I don't agree with them drinking, but supervised is better than not.

added. didn't i just say I don't agree with it? I won't let a kid that is of age leave here if they have drank anything. or an adult for that matter. Limits are the answer. 4 kids died here over someone calling the cops, the kids were running scared, not driving. we have a teen drinking problem here for a reason.

Usually, adults who give their minors alcohol let them drink at home, so that they can be supervised. I'm assuming that'd be the case here, but research shows that the younger you start drinking, the more likely you're to develop alcoholism. If the kids aren't supervised, do them a favor and tell the authorities.

your points have their merits.

although it is wrong for a minor to drink alcohol, it isn't wrong. European families have alcohol as just another part of life. prohibition doesn't exist in their world and they don't seem to have epidemics of criminal behavior as a result.
i would be more worried about somebody giving alcohol to minors with devious sexual motives. family and friends, generally, is pretty tame.
you could report the incident and maybe destroy somebody's set of intangibles; love, trust, respect, common courtesy and such. that family may be better off than those prohibited because they could never be trusted.

She can be arrested and fined for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. In some states, you may allow your own child to drink alcohol, in your home, but you may not supply it to monors who are not your children.

yes you can but c'mon dont be such a b*****.
talk with your son and explain to him how to drink and how you should act while drinking. for instance, talk to him about liqour and ways to avoid it and explain to him about the different kinds of beers. also show him local drunks around your town and tell him if he is reckless and careless that he will Physically look like that. it was just a party. did you pick him up at the jail?
well, your probably going to call the police anyway. your probably one of those parents who baby thier kids and show up at ALL of their games and such. haha get a grip. you only live once and maybe you were the same way when you were younger so just apply that mentality to the speech with your son.
also, at least their was a parent there

She can give her own child alcohol in her house, but she cannot do that for another person's child. She would be held liable in a court of law if something happend to a kid leaving her house.

If you call the police, they would have to investigate and talk to the party goers. And kids always crack under pressure. And you should, she has no right to allow other peoples minor children to drink.
