There's this really fugley old man that lives next door and he called the police on me and my familia. Okay so he says that his speakers are missing from his garage and he thinks that me or a member of my family stole them. *Scoff*

I'm so offended. Where does he get the nerve to go around accusing people of such things?? So anyways the policeman along with the old fogey come pounding on my door. The officer asks, "Hi how are you doing today" I reply, "fine".

Then he says, "do you know anything about this mans speakers? He reported to us tonight that they went missing yesterday" and I say "well, you know what, I have no idea where his speakers went off to, as I have no access what so ever to his garage". After that he takes down my personal information as well as the rest of my family. I know that he accused me of taking his speakers because the same day he confronted me about it.

So finally my question is, can the officers collecting my information go down on any type of record like, "suspected thief" or whatever??
I can't believe this. Or would this have to be settled in court, which I have no idea how he would even get that far with out having any proof...

:c

The Police were just doing there job by following up on the complaint. Ignore it. There's always one in every village.

I didnt see where the officer mentioned that the speakers were in a garage... How did you know where they were? What does the mans personal appearance have to do with the fact that someone stole his property? Obviously, the officer felt there was enough merit to question you and your "familia"....

Yeah, the police are required to take down your information. However, it's just in case the old man follows up to make sure theyre doing your jobs. Being suspected of a crime means very little until you are charged. If you didnt do it, DONT WORRY ABOUT IT. The police only took it down to document in his report. If the old man suspects you, its logical for the officer to ask you things about it.

YOU SCREWED UP. WHEN THE POLICE ASKED ABOUT THE SPEAKERS YOU SHOULD HAVE REPLIED " OFFICER THIS MAN CAME OVER HERE TODAY AND ACCUSED ME OF TAKING HIS SPEAKERS AND THEN QUITE OBVIOUSLY HAS PHONED YOU ABOUT HIS SPEAKERS. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS SPEAKERS? AM I BEING ACCUSED FOR THE RECORD OF THESE FALSE ACCUSATIONS BY THIS MAN? IF SO I THINK I NEED AN ATTORNEY TO SETTLE THIS MATTER OFFICER THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME."

Just ignore the guy. If he continues to approach you then keep a record of it. Write down each incident. If the encounters get worse or more frequent then file for a restraining order. Your only other option is to move away. Your choice. Sorry, thats all I can think of to tell you.

Wow, what a jerk! It's best not to get mixed up in any of this. If he attempts to speak to you, just ignore him! You don't want to give him ANY kind of ammunition.

P.s. Sounds like an old crack pot.. I'm sure the police are only following it up as it's their job. Nothing will happen to you or your family without evidence!

They investigated the matter, found it baseless, and left you alone. They probably gave him a little lecture. What else would you have had them do?
