okay, I can try to keep the sinning to a minimum, and I can try to read the bible, but do I really have to go to church and go through the whole accepting Jesus as your savior thing? Wouldnt it be enough to just believe in god and thank him everyday for what you have? And do you have to agree with everything he has done or does?

Im asking because honestly, the god described in the bible doesnt really match the god that is supposed to be forgiving and all loving. So is it okay to doubt everything else in the bible but still believe in god and to question why he has done some things?

Or do you have to believe in him, and accept Jesus, and believe the stuff in the bible, and go to church, and agree with what he has done?

I know in my previous questions I sounded harsh but I cant help the way I feel about it. Some things to me are just not fair about it.

So thats why Im asking, shouldnt it be enough to just believe in god and keep the sinning to a minimum and there?

I am not totally convinced that there is an afterlife which is why I am going to try to make the most of the one here, but at the same time, I also find it hard to believe that there isnt a higher power.

And sorry for the last questions or at least the way they sounded. I still hold to what I said, just not the way I said them.

so for the last time, is it enough to believe in god and thank him everyday for what you have instead of having to go to church and all the other stuff(and obviously to keep the sinning to a minimum and being sorry for the ones committed)?

Is just believing in God enough? Have you read what God's Word has to say about that? The question has been asked before; and the answer is in the Bible.

James 2:19 -- You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble!

Will the demons be saved? Will you cast your lot with the demons?

And what is the point in believing in God anyway? It's sort of like believing that a train is leaving to go to the place you most want to be, while you are standing on the platform watching it leave. You definitely don't understand what it is that God is offering. And you don't understand what it is that Jesus saves us from or to.

And "keeping the sinning to a minimum?" If you aim for less than perfection, the best you will achieve is imperfection. Yet God is perfect. To just keep sinning to a minimum is to always keep God at a maximum.

Understand. God wants us to be happy and with him forever! And he WILL NOT abide with sin... AT ALL! So, if you want happiness and eternity, nothing less than perfection is what you must strive for. (But remember, God is there to help you achieve that).

And how would you know all this (and much more)? Read the instruction book -- the Bible, God's Word. And not just READ, but STUDY as one who want to graduate with honors.

Paul said the same thing:
"Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified." (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)

And finally, do you also not know what "church" is for? "But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:7). "If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth" (1John 1:6).

The Kingdom of God is no half-hearted, half-way trip. It's either all the way, or it's no way.

First of, do not feel bad. These questions, when properly addressed actually deepen your faith.

Be patient. A big part of faith is patience.

Unfortunately, believing (by believing I mean only acknowledging) that God exist is not enough. Faith is an ethical journey... In other words, the practices seek for us to understand the goodness that will serve us and those we love.

The bible is also difficult to read but once you get used to it, it will serve you well. The bible is also an ethical book which is meant to serve us. (By serve, I mean seek to develop our humanity.)

Be patient with your faith and trust those you love. Love God first and God will make you love others.

The object of faith is to learn to love the way God does.

Salvation?.... well I think that is just a bonus. :-)

"I dont know nobody named Jesus. I know a bunch of stories about him, but I only love people. I love dem so much I'm fit to bust sometimes." - Jim Casy, from The Grapes of Wrath

I don't care whether or not God wants me to go to church, or what the Bible says, I just want to make those poor people's lives easier.

Religion is a result borne out of fear and superstition. Any first year seminary student will tell you this. This is why we get the 'willies' whenever we do something wrong. It's the idea of a lightning bolt coming from the heavens to strike us down that gets to us.

Heck... my uncle was struck by lightning when he was setting up a tent for the church. So what does that say about his situation? He lived, and people were beside his hospital bed praising God for his survival, and I thought... "Wait a minute. Who the hell struck this man down?"

I walked out and became a Muslim.

Most of the Christians on here will tell you that if you don't believe in God in the way THEY believe in God - that you will go to hell and burn.

My opinion is that there is no hell. And there is no sin. God is LOVE. We're supposed to be nice to each other while we're here. I don't know where we came from - or where we are going - and I really don't care that much. I refuse to live a good life that's driven by fear. I prefer to live a great life driven by God. God is LOVE!!

And goodness gracious - don't go to church unless you want to go.

Namaste!!

God is God. A God of justice. A God of love. A God of hope.

A confident faith is a suspicious faith.

A wrestling faith is everything in Christianity.

Without faith, all hope is lost.

We as Christians shouldn't expect to know everything hand from hand in the Bible. It's ok to doubt; it's not ok to deny Christ.

God wants us Christians to be thankful, regardless through cheers and tears. God does not say "Go to church or you are condemned." Instead, God simply expects you to BELIEVE.

Faith, my friend. That's it. Trying not to sin is an extremely good sign. It shows that you are striving for Christ but remember, works do not save. Only faith.

Faith that the Bible is true. Faith that Jesus is God. Faith that Jesus came to this earth, died for our sins, and rose again. Faith that Jesus is coming again someday.

Someone I know cannot read the Bible everyday. But they are a Christian. I also know many other Christians who don't attend church on a regular basis but nonetheless, they are believers. When you have faith, all else becomes irrelevant in terms of salvation.

This of course, does not give us a license to sin. We want to obey God because we love Him. Christ died for our sins in one of the most pain staking sacrifices that surely, we can sacrifice anything for Him in return.

God is Everything or God is Nothing....we, regardless of religious or spiritual belief, keep god in a box..

i am not of the christian faith, and i believe that as long as we do the next right thing, promote love faith and tolerance, and have a concept of a divine creator, and have a relationship with that divine being...then this is what pleases god/goddess.

definite - the two reading the bible AND going to church is a call for of God. Going to church is needed of God to take heed to the preaching of His Holy be conscious. in case you do no longer bypass to church and hear the gospel being preached, how are you able to improve in the certainty of His be conscious and know what His will is on your existence? it is not adequate to easily in simple terms 'have faith' that God exists. John 3:3 says that except one is born lower back, he can not enter into the dominion of heaven. Being born lower back potential to instruct your existence over to Christ; profess Christ as your Lord and Savior and repenting of your sins to God, obeying His be conscious (to the suitable which you will, thinking we are all sinners) and reading His be conscious. Christians study and study the bible for the reason that's how we improve in non secular awareness and could additionally determine the certainty from the lies - the misinterpretations of the international and all of the fake religions that are on earth. The bible says to "study to instruct thyself authorized...." i'm hoping you will study and study the bible and could bypass to church (one that preaches the gospel - no longer one that in simple terms makes human beings 'experience solid' or supplies them an emotional 'rush'. could God bless and grant you with awareness to renowned the certainty - :)

Satan believes in God, however, he is not and never will be saved- the only way to heaven and reconciliation with God is through Jesus Christ-
you say that you keep sinning to the minimum. One sin and you are separated from God- because apart from Him we are in sin. "All sin and fall short of the glory of God"- and "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord'. What is not fair to us? The question to be what about this is fair to Jesus? He was sinless, He is righteous and He is God, and He gave His life on the cross so that we can be forgiven. What is fair about that? We deserve eternal separation from God, Jesus did not deserve to die.
