When Joseph Smith died his son wanted to take over but some people wanted Brigham Young to take over, so those that went with brigham young were the main LDS/mormon in UT and the ones that went with Joseph Smith son (and emma jo smith wife) were called the reorganized church, I think they may have changed their name. Then their is the FLDS that is around Arizone and the boarder of Utah. I am not sure about the jehovah witnesses.

Yes.

Primarily, this occurred soon after the death of Charles Taze Russell, the founder and first publisher of The Watchtower magazine. The publications discuss the matter frankly, noting the rather obvious evidence that God has blessed Jehovah's Witnesses (while the so-called offshoots have generally withered).

Jehovah's Witnesses actually apply the bible term "evil slave [class]" as those who separate from the true Christian congregation and oppose it. Jehovah's Witnesses have consistently refused to identify these "evil slave [class]" religions by name, just as Jehovah has identified Satan by title rather than by actual personal name (Satan="Resister", and Devil="Slanderer").

In refusing to engage apostate former Witnesses, Jehovah's Witnesses demonstrate themselves to be positive and forward-looking, concentrating on their own 'workmanship' in connection with "the good news".

(2 Timothy 2:14-19) Keep reminding [fellow Christians] of these things, charging them before God as witness, not to fight about words, a thing of no usefulness at all... Do your utmost to present yourself approved to God, a workman with nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of the truth aright. But shun empty speeches that violate what is holy... Jehovah knows those who belong to him

There are some 100 different Mormon based factions. Most are closer in beliefs to Bible only churches than the Utah LDS Mormons. Most are small and rather obscure. I joined one faction that has around 7000 members worldwide called the Church of Christ (Temple Lot). You can check out www.restoration.org that lists most factions. Most LDS are not even aware of other Book of Mormon based churches or that they were originally called the Church of Christ in 1830.

There are even a few new factions that have sprung up that never split off of any Mormon church. These folks are Bible only folks who picked up the Book of Mormon and began believing and promoting it.

Most of the doctrines that antis disagree with the Mormons on are not ever taught in the Book of Mormon itself. It even strongly teaches AGAINST many LDS doctrines.

The vast majority of the other factions have NEVER believed in polygamy. The LDS do not practice it but still believe it is a valid practice if commanded by their prophet. Today there are a few TINY kook factions like the FLDS that still practice polygamy. The Book of Mormon flatly states the practice is a whoredom and abomination to God, no excuses, no exceptions, and that those who commit whoredoms shall be thrust down to hell.

I am not aware of any factions of the JWs though they may exist. Most people are unaware of the 100 Mormon based factions.

The FLDS, an offshoot of the mormon church, has been in the news a lot lately because their prophet was arrested and convicted of child abuse.
Usually these offshoots practice polygamy. The official mormon church does not and will excommunicate anyone that is.

I dont know about the JW's.

Actually there is a off shoot of Jehovah's Witnesses, They call themselves TRUE FAITH JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES, but they are not as widely known as we are.

And I have not taken the time to research exactly what they believe in detail. You may do so yourself. Feel free to email me if you find something interesting or have questions.

No offshoot Branches from Jehovah's Witnesses. You Cannot Improve On What Is Truth. Here is Why.
The Apostle Paul said it best " One Lord [there is], one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all persons, who is over all.”( Ephesians 4:4-6)
