Usually it's a sign of diabetes or a thyroid problem. The diabetes is tested for by checking the urine and a drop or two of the blood. The thyroid is done with a blood panel to check the functioning of the organs. The vet did both of these for you?
She shouldn't be peeing more than twice a day, and not in excessive amounts. If she keeps this up, have her tested again, something isn't right.

I agree with the others. Have you had his blood sugar checked? Is he losing weight or does he have any other symptoms? If everything checked out normal, and it's not hot and he's not exercising too much, then all you can do is keep an eye on him, and maybe consider a second opinion with another vet.
I had a cat become diabetic when he was four. I gave him insulin twice a day and he lived until he was just shy of 17. Giving insulin isn't that much of a hassle, if it comes to that. My cat and I both got used to it in a week.
And just out of curiosity, is he an orange male?

I'm wondering how old your cat is.
My cat did the same thing. Had to give her 2-3 bowls of water a day. She was still eating, but only half or less twice a day. When she stopped drinking water we knew for sure she was getting ready to say good bye.
Still did her duties as normal.
After 25 yrs. she let us go just about 3 months ago.
So that's why I'm wondering how old your cat is.
That's all I can say. The rest is up to you and your best friend. You know your cat better than anyone else.

My guess is that he might have diabetes. My cat was diagnosed with diabetes in August of 2005 and is doing very well :) How old is your cat? He is now 9 years old. Did the vet take his blood sugar test yet? Let me know what's going on. Good luck!

Ask the vet to test the blood sugar levels, my rottie was diagnosed diabetic 3 days ago and one of the signs was drinking heaps, also take note of your cats balance.

Hi! Blood tests don't lie so try not being paranoid. It could be anything from a hotter weather to more registered activity per day... drinking is healthy and cats have this SUPERB power to heal themselves. They know when something is wrong and they try to fix it on their own. Keep an eye on her but don't fret.
