A couple months ago, as a small kitten, my cat coughed up this gross wriggling worm, about 3 inches long and like, a milimetre thick. It made really sad howling noises beforhand but afterwards felt a lot better. Recently, looking in its puke I found another worm coiled up. He's not puking often, he's done it twice in his whole life. He's a really happy cat but also a dum dum. What does this mean?

did you ever have it de-wormed the first time it puked worms?

Puking worms is a sign the cat has a serious infection, of rounds, hooks, or pin worms. Generally a animal will pass the worms in the stool, or sections of these worms and there eggs. Puking worms means the infection has gotten very bad and they are backing into the stomach. When in the stomach they wriggle and squirm because of the acid, this can stimulate the gag reflex and the cat pukes it. Generally if the worms are in the stomach they arent getting the right nutrients in the intestines and are migrating to a better place. TIME TO GET THE CAT SERIOUS ATTENTION. Go to the vet and get a heavy duty wormer to get rid of the load. The grocery store stuff only will get rid of certian kinds. You cat can have one of many and mostly likely more than one.

There are a minimum of five varieties of worms a cat can get. you may desire to offer the medicine particular for the type the cat has, only dosing with something from the save won't be able to assure that it relatively is getting the type your cat has, it is why a vet needs to do a fecal. in view that your cat can grow to be re-infested if it eats prey, swallows a flea with tapeworm larvae in it, or by skill of utilising a muddle container that yet another cat with worms might have used, you are going to be handling a sparkling infestation as a replace of the previous one. Take a pattern in, of the worms (use a zipper lock baggie) and the feces. The try isn't that costly and you're sure to be treating for the the perfect option parasite.

It means, going to the vet and getting the right worm medicine for the kitty. You will probably have to deworm the cat for about 3 months at least to completely get rid of worms.

And then every 3 months after... and don't feed him raw meat.

If your cat is puking up worms it has a pretty heavy infestation, you need to take it to the vet and they can give it a wormer, not all worms are targeted by supermarket wormers. When the vet worms the cat you should worm all other pets AND YOUR FAMILY, a lot of pet owners worm their animals regularly however they forget to worm the family, we can infest them with worms just as they can infest us with worms. You need to do something about it soon, otherwise it will lead to more problems.

He's got a case of worms and you haven't treated him yet.

Take the worm to the vet, or take a poop sample in and describe what you told us here. The vet will give you the correct worming medicine your cat needs. Worms don't go away on their own, and cats can get them from eating mice and birds (or from other cats who have it, if they use the same litter box).

Call the vet. They can Rx a dewormer that will take care of the parasites. Over the counter dewormers are usually formulated to take care of only one type and the vet can give something to cover most types in one medicine.

Take the Kitty to the vet, nothing you buy over a pet shop counter is strong enough to get rid. Only a vet can treat it now.

It means your cat has worms, and you should take it to the vet, "dum dum."
