I just turned the tv off because I can't bear to watch the 203lbs rottweiler Bo (Bodell Princess, I think). I've seen the show before, and while the dog is so fat she can hardly move, the owner - a nurse by profession (!) - refuses to acknowledge that the dog is morbidly obese. She just goes on about how her dog - like all women - of a certain age gain a little around the belly and hips, and "when her dog dies, she'll at least know she gave her dog a good life" (I was tearing my hair out, and had to turn the tv off, rather than watching this lady twice.)
I remember that this lady refused help, as opposed to the other owners featured, and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this dog, and if her owner came around and helped the dog lose some weight, someone took her dog away, or if the dog died from all the weight??

I feel so bad for the dog, and I get SO angry with people who abuse their animals this way, just to make themselves feel good about themselves for a sec

I have an aunt with a labrador that is 40 pounds overweight. In our family we have a vet and a person with a masters in animal behavior. She knows full well that the dog is fat. She continues to feed the dog whatever she wants to eat. She can't stand the thought of the dog being hungry. She loves her dogs to the point of tears just thinking about one of them dying, but she just can't understand what "killing them with kindness" means. The thing is.. it's not even kindness. I go visit her once a week. I take her dogs for a walk. This poor lab is barely able to go a half mile without taking a break. Some people can't get past their own mental barriers to understand how harmful they are being. It's really very sad.

Watched this too... I have not seen a followup show at all. I dont think anything happened. Unless someone formally complains about the dog, there isnt a whole lot anyone can do. She is in denial and mentally blocking her brain to seeing what is the right thing to do. She knows its bad but she continues to do it because it makes her feel good. Its like a smoker whos dying of emphazima (in know I spelled it wrong) and still continues to smoke. Its just a persons desire to self destruct and take as many with in the downfall. Unfortunate that others have to suffer for peoples mental delusions.

What I found most disturbing was the woman's insistence that this dog was like a child to her. She described turning up the heat if the dog is cold, turning on a fan if she is hot, etc. And the dog eats 16 lbs of raw meat a week! So if the dog is like a child, would the woman have given her child anything they wanted, too? I am picturing Augustus Gloop from Willy Wonka...just not a good situation.

honestly ask your vet. i've got considered some fairly super kitties such as you're describing yours. perchance yours is purely "massive boned". optimistically, your cat has the physique to hold the load, yet confirm which you do ask your vet this purely in case....On yet another be conscious, could that kitty on animal planet happen to be the only that made the information some months in the past, via the call of Hercules? Hercules have been given lost from his proprietor, and became into got here across attempting to get in - or out of a neighbor's pup door. Very lovable tale!

I understand your feeling, although I haven't seen the show. I've seen plenty of fat pets, though, and can't fathom why people let it go there. I have never fed an animal anything except the food formulated for them. In fact, they're suspicious of anything I offer them as a treat just because it's so strange to them when I do it. They're perfectly happy with a measured amount of kibble twice a day.

Seeing these fat dogs is nearly as upsetting as people ruining their children's health with inappropriate and too much food. It is almost unbelievable that people can be so blind.

It is not doing any favours for the dog or child - just giving them a (reduced) lifetime of health problems.

That lady needed to be taken out back and beaten with a club for a VERY long time.
Eventually, she will kill the dog, and get another one to torture.

Some people are really sick.
