I cut myself on my upper thigh. The cuts are pretty deep, so they keep bleeding through all my pants. I've been tying pairs of really long socks around my leg to stop the bleeding, and its already soaked through two. It's slowed down, but every time I walk one burst and it starts soaking through my pants. Now I don't know what to do?? How can I make it stop reopening? I don't want anyone to know, so I can't just leave it alone... Any help is deeply appreciated. Thank you.

Firstly it sounds like you need stitches. Any wound that is large and won't stay closed needs medical assistance, to ward off infection and scarring. If deep, or constantly bleeding, you can't treat this at home. Please do this, go get medical help.
If you have no intention of going to the doctors, then this is what to do. Can you get steristrips or butterfly bandaids from the chemist? Do you have access to duct tape, sports tape, or a good first aid kit? And some SURGICAL dressings? Barring all else you can use sanitary pads.
Here's what to do. Cleanse the wound. Apply Betadine or Iodine to help cleanse and dry out the wound. Pull the two edges of the wound together, and apply the steristrips or butterfly bandaids to hold the edges together. Do this so that they run across the wound. (If the wound runs left to right, you apply them vertically) Find the correct size of dressing - it should cover the wound with about 1" or 2 cm all round. Place the dressing on top, and fasten into place using the tape. If blood seeps through, do not remove the first bandage, apply a second over the top.
The outer bandages must be changed every day, but leave the steristrips or butterfly bandages in place for at least a week.
If the wound gets red around it, hot, puffy, or you feel like you are running a fever you will have to seek medical help, you will have an infection that left unchecked could cause blood poisoning and kill you.
Once this is treated, you must seek help as to why you would do this to yourself. There are enough horrors and dangers in this world, with out you being the one to inflict them on yourself.

If the cuts are that deep, you may need some stitches to hold it together. That makes things very easy, but of course, you have to get to a doctor or hospital to get them.

If this is bright red blood, coming in spurts then you really do need a doctor. If it is sort of oozing and darker, then stitches are still advisable, but it is less of an emergency.

In the meantime, the best way to stop the bleeding is by applying pressure on top of the wound. Keep it there for about 3 to 5 minutes. Then apply a pressure dressing. The socks are coming close to that. Afterwards, you are going to have to rest to let it heal. Don't move the leg around. Keep the leg elevated a bit above your heart (ok, lay down and veg on the couch for a few hours with your leg up.)

if it soaks thorugh a banage, apply a new bandage on top of it. Don't remove the old one, especially the first layer.

Also, do not get the bandage so tight that you cut off circulation. If your leg gets numb, or feels cold, the bandage is too tight.

Hello Hunterta, Apply direct pressure, that mean use some clean cloth and press on the wound for 10 to 15 mins and later see how, if the bleeding stop than apply dressing and medication on the cut. If it a deep cut or open cut wound it may need some strings from the doctor. There are some cc or rc that have the basic first-aid course and they were teach you what to do. Stitches are probably best, but if you absolutely must go for a DIY solution, what about this:

If you can get to the drugstore, you may be able to find some steri-strips in the wound-dressing section (you know with the gauze and bandaids and stuff). These can be used instead of stitches to help hold the edges of the wound together.

Don't forget to clean and disinfect thoroughly before you tape, though.

Get a huge bandage with a plastic backing ( like an oversized band aid) . Use some gauze under that and tie something around it like an ace bandage. Just make sure you have something to absorb and something plastic to keep it from bleeding out. You may need stitches if it's really that deep. Please take better care of your self and find another outlet for your stress. Don't let this turn into an infection, please get help if it doesn't stop bleeding very soon. Good luck .

bleeding should be done by using direct pressure this means use a cloth or guage and hold this tight enough to control the bleeding. Don't keep looking at the cloth, if this becomes blood soaked apply another one on top. Whatever you do get yourself to a hospital or doctor fast. Don't worry about someone knowing they will get the message you need to get to the hospital.

Got to the hospital, and if for some strange reason you don't think it's serious enough (which it is) at least call to find out what you can to at your own house. Asking these kind of questions here is not a god Idea though, you really need to get to the hospital.

Skeptic Pencil.
Epsom Salt.
Or best case senario put pressure and raise the thigh up if possible.
Icing it is great, but put a towel on it first.
Find someone to go buy you some epsom salt, and put that on it, and bandage it up with some medical tape and gauze.

go see a doctor. i think that's the best advice,
seeing as how it's not normal to be losing so much blood:
- either the cut is too deep, and will require stitches.
- you may have a condition that doesn't allow blood clotting.
both are serious things, and i strongly suggest checking it out.

apply pressure. and ice. if these cuts are deep you may need stiches especially when it is in a place that moves frequently.
go to ER get the cuts stiched before you end up with a very bad infection If you blood is thin you deffently need stiches.
