it means salvation is available to us because God is gracious. Not because we are deserving.

Grace is available to everyone, because Grace is promiscious. You've watched Will & Grace right? Whoa Nelly does that lady sleep around!

JimPetti, and Wayne M gave excellent answers. Their definition of grace is correct. God grants to all of mankind His unmerited favor because He chose to do so. .

1st, you have to understand that we are *all* sinners, and that we *all* fall short of *deserving* eternal life. Nor can we *earn* eternal life.
Once this is accepted, then grace makes sense. Grace is the free gift from God which he provides so that our sins can be forgiven and we can obtain eternal life. Grace is *available* to everyone, but only given to those who, at the very least, have faith in Jesus and in his death for our salvation (from sin and death).
That's the short answer.

It means that the process of transformation is available to you, so that you may receive grace when you come to understand. It is God's free gift to you, only if you understand and accept it.

It's like this
Lets say a piece of chocolate represents jesus (this isn't a racial thing either. just a piece of candy), and jesus is that grace. you're in a chair by it. the chocolate is available to you, but you just need to choose to get up and eat it
