How long has it been?
It can take a few months for it to be completely normal, depending on what ligament, how bad the injury was, and how active the dog is.
Sometimes recovery can cause the ligament to shorten slightly, which can cause limping.
Sometimes old injuries ache (just like with people). Being tired sometimes makes them limp again.
Sometimes dogs learn that limping brings sympathy and attention and use it to their advantage.
My friend has a dog that broke her leg at around a year old. 5 YEARS later, she sometimes limps on that foot. Now, I just mentioned that old injuries can ache, but as soon as you tell her "knock it off" the limp goes away! Smart dog or what?
Try ignoring her when she limps for a while. See if it miraculously heals. LOL!

It depends on how bad the injury was, where it occurred, and how well it heals, but usually, yes. A sprain is a stretching of the muscle, and usually heals relatively well/fast. I actually tore two of three ligaments in my ankle(and sprained the third) from falling down stairs, and was able to walk with no problem within 6 months.

Ligaments heal VERY slowly - depending on how bad it is it can be a YEAR. Follow the vets instructions for activity level and therapy. I have prefomance dogs and we see ligament injurys from time to time often the dog returns to previous ability.

Yes! My little Chihuahua had subluxed patellas! Her knee's went out---this caused lameness and terrible pain! I got her diagnosed, she was one year old, I gave her chondriton and pain pills, only gave pain pill when it went out, well by age 2 now it doesn't happen anymore, either the growth during this last year corrected the flaw or the chondriton given at the crucial time really worked wonders in the elasticity of that tendon! So yes, go to the Vet get medication, hope for the best, keep her off tile so she doesn't slip (I got throw rugs) and hopefully you too will see complete healing for your dog.
