It's not about religion. School shootings are an example of frustrated kids. The US has ridiculous compulsory education laws that cause problems that result in horrific situations and occasionally even shootings. It's all about oppression of children and some misguided attempt to keep kids from growing up.

If it was all about gun control, then why does Canada have a lower murder rate and a higher gun ownership rate. School shootings happen because of overly pressured kids that don't get the mental help they need. UK might have more intense compulsory education, but the US has worse disparities. If you get rid of the guns, who is going to deal with WHY these kids turn to violence. It doesnt' solve the underlying problem. If the system turns the kids violent they will be violent even if they can't get to guns.

It's not as easy to get hold of a gun in Europe as it is here. We've managed to teach an entire generation of young people that violence is an acceptable means of conflict resolution. What that has to do with school prayer is questionable. Given religion's history of violence, it hardly presents itself as a solution, either.

We have a completely different culture than europe. it has nothing to do with prayer and more to do with the inequalities in this country. Also, our students have more pressure on them than the relaxed pressures on european students. Europe, though, isn't all that secular to begin with.

Also:
Why does secular Europe have less crime?
Why does secular Europe have less teenage pregnancy?
Why does secular Europe have less illegitimate births?
Why does secular Europe have less addiction problems?
Why does secular Europe have less weight control problems?
... As the woman said 'Speaks volumes love!'
Oh! and if you think the USA has ridiculous laws for compulsory education come to the UK they are the worse in the world for pressure on children. Over here they just kill themselves not others.

Partly because of their society, and what it teaches. The people have had more than their share of wars, and weapons are under more control there than they are here in America. Prayer helps, but society is also important.

umm excuse me , but i must disagree with most of you. Prayer makes a difference in everything we do. You are tought morals through prayers , your taught to look to a greater being which is God , and God wouldn't want his children shooting each other all the time. Those shootings are all works of the devil , and by not allowing prayers in school they are just leaving an open door for him to come in. Whats the first thing most people do when they have a prob, call to God , but yet on a daily basis we can't teach our children to take a couple of secs to give him reverance or to thank him. Maybe i feel this way since i went to catholic schools all my life , and now to think of it while i was going to school there were prayers allowed in Public schools as well, and i don't ever recall situations left and right about students shooting eachother . It just wasn't on our agenda......I wonder why.....

The continent that just had a nation try to take over the world, what, 60 years ago?
The vatican is centered in Europe. Do you know how huge the catholic and muslim population is in europe?
Eliminating the right to bear arms will only guarentee that only the criminals will be carrying guns. Use a little logic people.
Being laid back in europe has sent many nations into double digit unemployment rates and civil unrest over the growing economic problems in europe.
In the US we live side by side by side with all kinds of people with diff cultures, religions and lifestyles fairly peacefully. A few nutcase kids shoot a few people doesnt mean we live in a horrible society where guns and murder runs rampant.
Europe has far more terrorists attacks on their soil. By your logic then is God abandoning europe for not praying as much?
Your entire premise is sooo incredibly flawed.

Gun controll!
Prayer does nothing more than provide impressional children with a completely unfounded and unproductive sense of security and fear.
Take away the guns and the shootings will go away.

Possibly because the gun-lobby in Europe is not as strong as the gun-lobby in America. Funny how the gun lobby is so strong in the Bible-belt.
If you reduce the availability of guns, you will reduce the number of school shootings. As simple as that.
