I think it does, especially for male patients because we tend to have this macho thing of not wanting to see the doctor in the first place. And when we are pressed by a close relative or friend to go to the doctor and finally get into the consulting room we often play down the symptoms leaving the doctor with the feeling that we are wasting his/her time. Being accompanied gives the doctor a further insight into what's troubling the patient and a better idea of the seriousness of the condition.

Well, I live in the us dc area and have lived in other places around the USA. I think if you feel like it would help to take someone it is a good idea. I think they would probably be a little more alert with another person watching them work. And if that person asked questions you felt you could not ask.

Yes. I'm 7 months pregnant and my fiancee has gone to every appointment with me. Everyone acts really kind to me and I'm only 18, so they're probably also surprised I have an extremely supportive partner and that the baby will be in good, loving hands.

It would depend on the type of illness or symptoms for me.Something minor I like to go my self.Something major I would like someone with me.
I've never had a poblem with doctors listening. If you have something major wrong when you have someone with you your more relaxed and can come up with more questions between the two of you.

I dunno, I mean it works sometimes in getting rid of being nervous but sometimes it can add stress or more nervousness to u. If I'm by myself, I'm fine. With someone else I panic and worry more. Even though I don't agree on this, I know plenty of people who love when somebody else comes with u to the doctors. I for one just can't do it even though I've had people come with me at the doctors office.

The best way to get a doc to listen is to write out in plain english on paper what you problems or concerns or requests are and hand it to the doc. Our old doc we didn't need to do that with but this new doc we have to spell everything out for him or else he tries to avoid having to treat what you went in there for.

Um, me livin in america and bein 13, i guess so because ur relatives or close ones probably have noticed some issues concerning ur health and might feel free to report them. Or they could discuss there own problems which would satisfy them.

No. When someone used to be with me in the doctor's, the doctor would direct all conversation towards them even though it was me they were talking about!

it depends on how old you are, if you're older there should be no problem. however, if you're not in your 30+, then it does help to have someone older with you :P just my thoughts lol
