is it worth it to get a credit card from buy.com to save 30 dollars. I have pretty good credit but i don't really use credit card so if i get it i wont use it and just end up cancelling it. i have no plans to make any big purchases so if my credit score drops a little bit its not a problem for me

It's not worth the $30 saving to get a store credit card. They don't give you much benefits except the first time incentive. You should get at least 1 credit card and use it sometimes to raise your credit score. Just make sure you pay it off in full everymonth of course. There are many credit card offers out there that offer low interest with cash back rewards. There's nothing wrong with using a credit card when you use it responsibly. It gives you cashback which is much better than getting nothing from paying in cash.

It depends on how disciplined you are - if you are very sure that you will not use it except to get the 30 bucks then I'd just avoid the whole deal altogether - TANSTAAFL (there ain't no such thing as a free lunch) - they'll drive you nuts to cancel it.

But if you'll keep up with it, using it just for gas or necessary purchases, and watch that you don't overspend, then it's worth a a shot.

It Depends, but probably not. When you're online at the retailer, and they say "save 10%", or whatever, look at the credit card application and check out the interest rate. If its more than 10%, then you're going to pay more than what you're gonna save.

THE ONLY REASON TO APPLY TO SOME RETAILER LIKE BUY.COM IS TO ESTABLISH OR BUILD CREDIT.

NO .. .dont fall for there gimicks.... its better not to have the card!! only get a credit card if you want one.. and it has a low interest rate... dont go for any of the free points or miles.. that stuff isnt worth much.. the credit card companies are just trying to get you to sign up so you use the card and they can charge you alot of money in intrest on your purchases..

It will hurt your credit score only slightly, and only temporarily. Otherwise, there is no downside to having a credit card you'll seldom use.

In fact, in the long run it will help your credit score by helping your credit ratio (credit balance / available credit).

Using a credit card for anything other than an emergency is a bad idea

If will not drop your score. I took advantage of a card offer like that that saved me 20% off my first purchase.
