RED FLAG WARNING!!! fibromyalgia diagnosis is a good diagnosis for someone who wants to add to their pre-existing illegal drug use history to study up on and present to any medical doctor. That Dx is one of those really slippery ones that a medical doctor is abliged to believe the patient first and prove that it isn't something else. If I were a young mixed up person who want to score, I would go to wonder web and look up the symptoms to the disorder. What an easy way to get prescribed oxycodone/tylenol. This is also a good entry addiction drug for some who is on the level and has a low threshold to pain. The doctor has started a huge well known abused prescription drug. If she has used three per day that is 7.5mg oxycodone. For the street drugger that is vertually nothing alone. But is also become a toy to add to other drugs or sell on the street to supplement the main agent. Watch out for her going back and pressing the doctor to increase the amount or strength. For both people I have profiled that can happen. One more caution is the issue of the tylenol itself. Tylenol in not an INNOCENT medication. Some people's livers are not tolerant to it at all and the person develops an inflamation of the liver. That means that she shouldn't be adding Tylenol to the percocet. God knows that some people made the decision to take 8 extra-strength tylenol along with 4 percocet daily and ended up in liver shut down. GOOD LUCK my dear caring sister!

It is hard to say. I used pain meds for back pain. Using the meds was better than dealing with the pain. It was like you had a new life. But it does get addicting if your pain does go away. If her pain is for long term then do not worry about being addicted because it is better to be without so much pain. In the long run it is best to be off of the meds. Too many side affects while using pain killers. I have had two back surgeries and feel good now without any meds but when I needed them it was so important to have them.

She probably has them prescribed to take 4-6 times daily, which is ok under a doctor's care. That doesn't mean she's not addicted. That is a very painful condition.

No this is not to much. Doctors tend to prescribe just slightly LESS than a person with Fibro needs for any realistic comfort level. They don't mean to they are just so afraid of the controlled substance abuse laws that they err on the side of giving too little..
There are several treatment plans for this condition that involve, mild exersise, biofeedback and meds that are normally used for other diseases, for instance, Cymbalta is an anti depressant but is often used in conjunction with pain meds to control pain from Fibro.
Trust her Doc, the Doc is not going to lose a license giving too much pain meds to anyone.
And TRUST ME, Fibro is a very painful condition.... just because YOU can't see her pain, and she AIN'T bleeding does not mean she AIN'T hurting.......
People who take meds for diabetes or High Blood pressure have to take them for life... do you think they are addicted......Please Please Please stop making your sister feel worse because you think she is faking her pain......
I will pray for her to find a good support system, plenty of written Info to educate her family and friends, a good Doc to believe in her and teat her fairly and that you never have to go thru what you are putting her thru..

If it has been prescribed to her you need to ask her doctor about this. It is addicting. If she is in pain it could assist her to live more normally. It was manufactured for this purpose. Sometimes medication is neccessary. I lived on 150 vicadans a month at one time. I no longer need them. I no longer take them. Speak to her doctor.
