I will pray right now.

Okay, also let me remind you of something you probably already know. I'll try not to be too preachy. The bible never talks about breaking a habit, only of replacing them. Putting off the old man, and putting on the new man. In the case of alchohol, it says Do not be filled with wine, but instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.
IE, A good place to start, would be to ask her if she has been baptized with the holy spirit. If that sound weird, or new, maybe a quick Bible study on the Holy Spirit might help. There's a link to a good commentary below.

Hope this helps. And remember, when we get to heaven, we won't have to put up with these bodies anymore!

My prayers are with you. Alcoholism is a disease that is incurable like cancer. Her not being able to deal with social issues is one of the underlying causes of alcohol. If you remove the booze and replace it with a strong desire to quit and have a God of her own understanding, she will socially (slowly but surely) be able to deal with life better. But alcohol is a depressant and the bottle contains jail, institutions or death. She has to make the decision. You cannot enable her. It is gonna take some footwork on her part. Yes, prayer can change everything. But your friend is gonna have to make some changes as well. Beginning by having a relationship with God, He can help her but we all have free will as well.Only when she is sincere will any changes happen. We will store up plenty of prayers in her spiritual bank account for her. God Bless!! If we do the possible, then God does the impossible!!!

Oh, I'm so sorry for your friend. Alcohol is a bad thing when not used wisely and I've dealt with huge social problems in my life so I can relate to the social part of it. I'll keep her in my thoughts!

Edit:

Man, some of you guys should just be nice! I'm not a Christian, but I kindly said I'd keep her in my thoughts. And prayer is really physcological, think positive things, do positive things! So if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Father, I ask that this person who is having problems with addiction and social issues, learns to know You and place her trust in You. She is hurting and needs Your peace and Your unconditional love. Please help her. I agree with her friend and ask in Your precious Son Jesus' name. Amen.

I must tell you that my brother was a drug addict for 35 years. I spent all of that time criticizing him until one night God told me to stop belittling him and instead, to pray and talk to Him about my brother. I did and God broke his addiction and changed his life because he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

If your god is omniscient, surely s/he already knows about your friend's problems and your concern. Do you think your god waits for sufficient prayers from the faithful to go in the bank before doing anything? What a nasty capricious god you have.
