Waight- *sigh* What does it matter? It's just curiousity, and I know there is more than one nationality out there. I myself am 'multicultural'. You are welcome to put down more than one, but I didn't think I had to tell you that. Also yahoo answers permeates more than just the United States....so not everyone here may be 'American.'

I wish my heritage was only one nationality but a search of surnames through my family tree shows that it is not:

Alden, Beale, Copeland, Hayden, Higgins, Young = English
Campbell, Ewing, Hamilton, Mullikin = Scottish
Barrett, Brennan, Corrigan, Costello, Donlin, Guckevan = Irish
Davies, Price = Welsh
Bleimer, Kerstede = New York Dutch
Snyder, Stuck, Wise (Weiss) = German Mennonite
Bouvier, Braisseur (Brasher), DuVal = French Huguenot

We tend to think of our genealogy as a two-dimensional thing. However, it is actually three-dimensional with genes coming in from all sorts of directions.

My nationality is American. I was born in the United States of America, my passport is American. When I travel and have to have a visa the visa says, "nationality, American." I am proud of my nationality.

My ethnicity is a mixture of Irish, English, Scots, Welsh, French, German, Dutch and Cherokee.

Nationality: American.

Your nationality is the country of which you are a citizen. The national origin of your ancestors might be different.

I am an American of many different ethnicities. I have at least one ancestor that was on the 2nd supply to Jamestown in 1608. That was before the Mayflower. However, anybody that was naturalized today, their nationality is just as much American as mine is.

Like ArLorax (who answer is above) I'm a mutt, too - Irish, English, Scottish, and a bit of German. I'm proud to be a bona-fide born American, but since I've been married and living in Sweden for 6 years now, I've gotten double citizenship, so I'm now officially American and Swedish!

My mom is real big on our family's history even though not all is good, it's kinda cool learning your grandfather's cousin's were strippers for Jack Ruby's night club, and Teddy Rosevelt is a distant cousin you know?? I'm German, English, Welsch, Irish, French, who knows what else!?

Well I was really proud to be not only English, but Yorkshire in fact! Now that IS something to be proud of. That is until I started doing my family history and find I am Irish and German!!! Of course I am still Yorkshire, but not as much as I had originally thought!

Well you know what they say, "Tha can allays tell a Yorkshireman, but tha canna tell him much"!

I'm 9th Generation American and 6th generation Texan. On my mother's side on the family we are Blackfoot Indians (found in Montana and Alberta Canada) and on my father's side on the family we are English, Irish and Scottish). The first person born in America on my father's side of the family was John Penn in 1706. One of my forefathers signed the Declartion of Independence (William Penn) and on my mother's side of the family (Allens) my forefathers have founded towns and one of my forefathers created the semi-automatic rifle gun.
