Either you are getting information that you just barely passed to get you in the office or you really scored high. You outta check the benefits of each branch. ASVAB scores are only good for 2 years. After 2 years, you will have to take the ASVAB over again.

There is no need to be scared at the MEPS. As long as you tell everything to your recruiter, you should not have a problem at the MEPS. I will tell you this though, bring a book because you will be doing alot of sitting around waiting on people in front of you to see the doctor. Remember this, everyone is there to do the same thing you are doing...join the military.

Don't be scared, baby. Even the infantry boys took the ASVAB and they got in! (Nobody write me nasty letters, I married one.) Besides, the practice ASVAB is exactly like the real thing, so if you did well on that, you'll do well on the real thing. I took mine after studying the ASVAB study guide for 2 days and got a 90 overall score. So don't worry! And good luck to you in the Marines! (Although with the kind of score you were talking about, I'd go Air Force or Navy....lol.) Just kidding. Do yourself a favor, though. Get some experience, go to college, and go through OCS. The Marines could use a kid like you as a leader. Make sure you're enlisted first, so you can see what your troops go through. Good luck!
PS. MEPS is where you pick your job, swear in, and you're off. They do some physical stuff, like check you for scoliosis, but just do what they say and there's no problem. They want you to join...they won't be nasty to you.

The ASVAB is nothing to worry about. If you graduated high school you will pass the ASVAB. Your score on the ASVAB helps determine what type of job you will get in the service. However in the Marines, there aren't a whole lot of jobs to choose from so I wouldn't sweat it too much. It is not like taking the SATs or ACTs. It just covers basic stuff.

As for MEPS, it's just a big physical. It intimidates everyone, but it is really nothing more than a big physical.

Go to the refrence section of your local book store and buy an ASVAB study guide. As far as the rest don't worry, every knuckle head in the military had to go through MEPS too and we're all OK. It's mostly sitting around watching crappy daytime tv episodes and re-runs while you wait on paperwork to get done. Bring a book to read and some change for the soda machine.

take the practice ASVAB. figure about 5-10 points higher on the real thing. anything over 50 is good, over 80 and you can write your own ticket pretty much.

if you take the Practice test and find you did poorly in some areas, then get a study guide, available at most libraries.

Buy the study guide and practice the ASVAB. There'll be many more tests like that one during your time in the military so get used to it. You go through MEPS once in your life. Once it's over, you're done, no big deal.

Just tell your recruiter what's going on. He / she should be able to help you out. Have you taken your recruiter's practice test? This will determine how you will do on the ASVAB. Don't be scared. You'll get through it, as long as you don't have a reason to be scared.

go to bottom of page and read 4- 10

if you can, the best thing to do is to go to meps on separate days from the exams and processing. Otherwise its long and not fun. there is a good practice test on line on military.com. (just put in fake info with your actual email address)

try the asvab for dummies book, im sure they got one. I wouldn't worry just study. You can take the test more than once.

Nothing bad happens at MEPS, sure you crawl around in your undies, but trust me it is not degrading, its a doctor, a nurse, and other females like yourself in the room doing physical things to see if you are fit, if you do join, you may have a female drll sgt. she and all other females in your squad will see you naked, its that simple, you will not even be worried about it, you will be in too much of a hurry.
