I always assumed it was because it was easier to fit grafts to different sized blood vessels in the heart, if you had an assrtment of sizes available from a single incision.....that it was less offensive to the body so to speak, than taking a number of them.....is that the case, or is there another reason?
Just wondering - cant sleep

Depends on how many grafts you need. I had 7 grafts in February, 6 of which were from the internal mammary arteries and 1 was leg vein, only one short piece.

You need sufficient size, need to clear out valves, make sure wall is healthy enough to sew to, etc.
