I went into add remove programs and uninstalled iexplorer.exe but it's still in ProgramFiles/internet explorer. So I deleted it but it keeps coming back. Where does it come from? It's extracting a copy of itself from somewhere and putting itself there. I want it gone. If I remove all entries from the registry will that work? There is a process or service running that acts like a virus in that it replaces the file as soon as I delete it. I don't want to pay for any tools that will remove it. I'm a Linux user myself but a few of my customers are too stubrn to change.

I need to get rid of iexplorer.exe because it allows viruses to come into a computer. Firefox.exe does not allow viruses to work as well when internet exploder is not present. Most people don't even want it. I can't get rid of it.

Ntothat: but it won't work. As long as IE is on the computer Trojans, Spyware, and Adaware will have a place to run.

If you are talking about IE7, then you cannot remove it. It is an integral program to the operating system. You are not forced to use it. It is associated with XP, Office and Outlook. If you remove the registry entries, the other programs will give you errors. Just remove the Icon for IE7 from the customers desktop and startup menu or set it to run with "no add ons" Install Firefox or whatever, and tell them to use tha Icon to load the internet.

Back when I was doing Windoze phone support for a M$ contractor, we would use a publicly available knowledge base article on how to remove IE from the OS. No doubt there are updated articles in the KB on how to do that these days.

You do know how to use the publicly available Micro$oft knowledge base don't you?

Try using Reg Cleaner. It's free, just Google it. Be careful with this program though. In there you can uninstall and remove startup programs as well as registry entries. Like I said though, be careful.

What are you trying to accomplish? You cannot go around deleting Windows where IE is an integral part of. While default browser can be tweaked to run others like Firefox; IE is always there as Windows are because it is a component of Windows.

iexplorer.exe is associated with Adclicker and is spyware/adware. Grab Spybot or Ad-a-ware from www.download.com and run them. Spybot will probably tell you it needs to do a boot scan based on this type of spyware. Afterward run CCleaner. Best place for that is at filehippo.com. Good luck! By the way, you can't get rid of IE.
