It's so easy to love someone who's far away. You may justify yourself and say, "We're not like that...they don't understand...we're different." but it's the truth. The hardest thing about a long-distance relationship is that you're both hiding parts of yourselves from the other. You can do that, cause you're not together like a couple who live in the same proximity.

I think they can work as long and both people are willing to work at it. It takes a lot of communication, trust and honesty. Mine has lasted so far 4 years, i live in U.S and he lives in Germany. I think in a way they are good for a couple because its not about physical wants and needs its about communication and taking the time to involve eachother in our lives. when we argue we have promised to never hang up angry and we are honest about how we feel. When we are together we are happy, still fight but we resolves it rather quickly. So i believe they are acceptable if the people are trustworthy.

Acceptable..yes
Would it last long...depends on how much you communicate
Most dont last because they take a lot of effort on both sides. How far are you willing to go to make it work? Are you willing to relocate for them? Is he or she willing to do the same? Are you well matched? Are you willing to have huge phone bills? Only you can make that decision and it isn't an easy one.

it is acceptable ---- if i was not open to it i would not have met my lady and my life would be much poorer for the lack --- it has lasted over 12 months now and i see it lasting a lot longer once we meet (she is on the other side of the world so there are problems to be solved in that regard) --- enjoy

i think that long distance relationships work only if both people are committed to making it work. i am in a long distance relationship right now, i live in Texas and my boyfriend of two years lives in Finland. its definately possible to make it work if both people want it to

i've tried it, in my exp. it hasn't gone well - it just kind of fades over time =/ it would depend on the situation, like if it's short term distance relationship (like under 6 months) and then ya get to be together again, then it might be ok, i guess it just depends on how strongly y'all feel about eachother

They can be really really hard unless you're extremely committed. They are emotionally draining and stressful, and I think that only true love can make it work for a long time.

It is hard but can work out if both people want it to. You both have to work at it together one cant give more than the other.

I'm in one; different countries, met online, now we're engaged.
My opinion? They are excruciatingly painful and only couples who really love each other can survive them.
