Did you know that during the cuban revolution, cubans fled to the mexican embassy.... They were then handed to fidel, to be shot in his firing squads.

The thing I find hypocritical is the fact Mexico has two border policies ... one for the northern US border, and one for the southern border. They want the northern border to be open, in fact, if they had their way there would be no border with the United States (because Mexican expatriates and illegal immigrants in the US send over $30 billion in remittances back to Mexico per annum). However, they police their southern border with Guatemala even more strictly than the United States does the Mexican border. The Mexico-Guatemala border is a militarized zone, and illegal immigrants trying to get into Mexico are frequently shot at to discourage them from crossing. What do you think would happen if the US Border Patrol started shooting at illegal immigrants crossing the US border ... you would have mass protests of the highest degree.

Mexican governmental hypocrisy ... I think so ... Mexico has rather unambiguous policy of keeping all other Latin-Americans from illegally immigrating to Mexico. How is that any different than the US wanting to keep illegal immigrants out? This is all besides the fact that the frequency of immigrants crossing the border illegally and shooting at US Border Patrol agents has more than tripled in the last two years (and more often than not the US Border Patrol is not allowed to shoot back). Which country do you think can take the moral high ground ... the one who shoots unprovoked at immigrants trying to cross their border illegally, or the one that has illegal immigrants shooting at them as they cross and doesn't shoot back?

Vitch ...

if the Mexican government doesn't want it's 'ordinary citizens' immigrating to the United States illegally then why does it give them training and information on how to cross the border illegally? Thats exactly what the Mexican government does ... official Mexican government agencies directly educate persons wanting to cross the US-Mexican border illegally how to effectively subvert detection by the US Border Patrol. How do you think Mexico would like it if we educated and trained our citizens to undermine the sovereign laws of their land?

No. It seems to me that Mexico has this "do as I say not as I do" policy when it comes to immigration. If an American went to Mexico and pulled some of the same stuff that immigrants do here (from many countries, not just Mexico) they would be deported before you could say amnesty.

There are even more problems here as I see it. Not only are we dealing with illegals, but now we are dealing with a watered down socitey. Why do we have signs in Sears and Home Depot in English and Spanish? Why do our children have to give up Halloween and Christmas parties in favor of Fall Fesivals and Winter Festivals, because some Muslum Mom says that her faith is offended. Last time I checked this is America, and you should try to blend into our culture, not us have to accomodate you. Try going to Mexico and telling them you want all the signs in the department store in English and Spanish, you want your children taught in their native tounge in school, you want public aid, and you expect to have citizenship. They will laugh you out of the country.

Clearly turn about is not fair play according to the Mexican government!! People of Mexico rise up and overthrow your government!! Then each individual state shoud apply to the U.S. Congress for statehood!! Think about it! The Southern US border would be a lot smaller and easier to patrol if you've only got to face Guatemala!!

No I do not accept the fact that Mexico wants the US to have No immigrations laws.

But I can tell you that I not only know that Mexico wants the US to have NO immigration laws... but Mexico is also compounding the problem by doing this.

Discount airlines fly migrants to U.S. border

By Chris Hawley, USA TODAY

MEXICALI, Mexico — New Mexican discount airlines are using rock-bottom fares to cater to legal and illegal migrants heading for the USA.

The airlines — known among fliers as Aeromigrante, or "Migrant Air" — take passengers from central or southern Mexico to cities along the northern border such as Tijuana and Mexicali. From there, customers make their way across the U.S. border.

The flights are part of a booming services industry for the estimated 13 million Mexican and Central American migrants who reside in the USA. Passengers who used to make bus trips of several days can arrive at the border well-rested for the often dangerous crossing.

Return flights south are often nearly empty of passengers, and some routes offer only one-way service. One of the airlines, Tijuana-based Avolar, estimates that 70% of its customers have the USA as their final destination.

"The most productive routes we have are cities where you have those passengers who are traveling with the idea of the American dream," said Luis Ceceña, a company spokesman.

Other budget carriers such as Volaris, Interjet and Click have started operations in the past two years and make air travel affordable to poorer Mexicans. One-way flights to Tijuana from central Mexico cost about $150, half what they did a few years ago.

"It's much more comfortable than the bus, and about the same price," said Leopoldo Torres, 37, of Mexico City, as he stretched his legs aboard a Volaris flight to Mexicali. He and a traveling companion, Julio Menéndez, planned to cross into the USA illegally through the California desert.

Migrants said another factor driving them to fly is the difficulty of crossing the border as the United States builds fences and adds Border Patrol agents. Smugglers who aid their journey have doubled their fees to $2,000 or more, making an airline ticket seem less expensive, said Guillermo Hernández of Guerrero.

Some airlines try to get even more migrant business. Avolar offers Greyhound bus connections from Tijuana to Fresno, where many migrants work on farms. Aero California takes payments through Western Union, used by many migrants to send money home.

Ceceña said the airlines should not be responsible for policing their passengers. "We have a saying in Mexico: 'Let the other hens cackle; you take care of your own eggs,' " he said. "It's a good business for us, and we're going to keep taking care of those customers."

If Mexico wants us to have no immigration laws that pertain to Mexicans, they need to apply for statehood.

I am not sure citizens do but our elected officials sure seem to. I think the most encouraging political action in the past year was the pressure brought by the common citizens against the attempted amnesty packages. Secure the borders, stop the illegal flow NOW and then clean up the mess of the last 30 years.

Anyone who knows about Mexico's strict immigration law, and has an ounce of common sense, will accept that the way things are now is complete BS.

I am so sick of hearing this arguement, it makes hardly any sense at all. The immigration laws in Mexico are decide by the Mexican GOVERNMENT, not ordinary Mexican citizens. It's ordinary Mexican citizens, not Mexican government officials, who are emmigrating to the U.S. I'm sure that the Mexican government would like it if the U.S. had strict immigration laws, because it would keep many people from leaving Mexico. The Mexicans who are immigrating to the U.S. illegally probably either support lax immigration laws in mexico, because they are emmigrating to another country, or they just don't care.

Just because Mexico has strict immigration laws doesn't mean that the U.S.A. should as well. Should the U.S. do everything the same way Mexico does?!? Judging by your tone of hostility toward Mexico and Mexican people, I am guessign you don't think the U.S. should.

your comment about cuba...at that time, fidel was thought to be a revolutionary change from the oppresion of batista. and fidel and his army trained in mexico before they returned to cuba for the revolution. so...at that time, mexico was doing what they thought was best for the new government of cuba. remember....when fidel took power, people went to the streets to rejoice. they didn't realize what he would become. so in my opinion...your statement is outdated and unrelated.

also, you have to understand that mexico has a LOT of rules in it's books. but you also have to understand the culture of mexico and mexicans. rules are not black and white, they are gray. i myself have been a beneficiary of these "gray" immigration rules. believe me...they are not inforced as they are written. everyone is judged on a case by case basis.
