I think it can be dangerous, if your spirit leaves your body than doesn't that leave you open to possible demonic possession. I mean if your spirit is not occupying your body doesn't that mean another spirit can occupy it? Just a thought.

It depends on which Christians you ask. Some think that ANY practice that a new-age store might possibly carry a book on, is evil. On the otherhand, you can probably find Christians who believe in and practice astral projection. The same can be said about remote viewing, ESP, crystal healing, etc.

Darlin, I read the answers that have been given before mine and let me tell yo sonething hun, dont listen to all there bull. Astril projection is real and I can and have done it. I have been able to do it since I was a small child and it isn"t dangerous. It does feel a little wierd at furst but it can be done.
I was raised in a baptist church, and according to any and every christian you talk to, they will tell you it is evel, but if you listened to them they will tell you that a baby who sh*** his diaper then crys during church is commiting a sin.
If you are interested and want to try start by learning to meditate and look into eastern philosophy. They been around longer than christianity and they usually have it right about most things. I myself am wiccan and my beliefs are a mix of eastern and native american ideas.
We are all born psycic. We only loose that when we are brainwashed to believe that any feeling or thought that isn't planted in your head by the church is a sin and evil. Explore your own gifts and don't be afraid to think for yourself.
Blessed Be

I am ignorant about the idea of "Astral Projection" therefore I can not tell you the Christian perspective regarding whatever in the world this is.
Am I just stupid or what? If you provide a link with info about "Astral Projection" perhaps we would be better equipped to respond to your inquisition.

There are other psychic powers as well; astral projection, levitation, ESP, telepathy, telekinesis, and so on. All these originate from the same source. If it is a psychic power, then it is from the fallen soul or demons. Demons possess souls, God lives in the spirit of the believer.
Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Lev 20:6: And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

People do not have a "soul" or "spirit" that is separate from themselves.
'God breathed into his [Adam's] nostrils and Adam **became** a soul'.
Astral projection perpetuates the lie of the immortality of a spirit and has ties to spiritism.
I would steer very clear of the practice.

If one were to believe that they were able to leave the body/soul and go on an adventure of the spirit, which is very possible, then rest assured yours would not be the only Sprite form that were out in the open and those others could possibly be less kind in their motives?

Astral projection, or moving "outside" of your body while remaining connected by a thread.
Is it safe?
Come on get real!
Do you know ANYONE who can do it?
NO!

Safe? Sure, because nothing's going to happen, unless you forget to turn the oven off.
