I recently requested an old friend to add me to his friend list on myspace. I will say that we had a thing for each other in 6th grade, oh so long ago. I haven't seen him in about 10 yrs and we went to different high schools. Instead he sends me a message telling me about what's going on with him, which I was glad. At the end he puts in there that he expects a reply from me unless my boyfriend doesn't want me to have friends. I am single and wondered why he didn't just ask me if I had a boyfriend rather than automatically assume. I guess its flattering that he would expect me to have one, but I'm got this feeling he put that in there to kind of indirectly ask me. Are there any other guys that do that or women that have had guys do that to them?

I do have on my page that I am single for my status. Don't know if he actually looked at it or not. That's the main reason why I was puzzled.

he probably never really looked at it or he would of seen it. i think that is there way of finding out if your single. goovy way of doing it but they never were very witty about how they do things

Could be that your status is "In a relationship". You didn't tell us if your page had any details that would make him assume. Sometimes people see one thing and assume another.
A great and wonderful person has helped me to see that myspace is more dramaspace. Check your page and see. Then again if you are interested in him then tell him. If not, let him think that you do have a bf.

The same reason guys don't stop to ask for directions. They don't like feeling vulnerable. If he asks you if you have a boyfriend, you will know he likes you. This way, he will find out without putting himself on the line. Why can't people just be honest? Anyways, this is why. Men are just as afraid of getting hurt as women.

I'd say hes just playing that card and your looking into it too far...he just wants to hear back from you, boyfriend or not...
meanwhile, from his response he gets two birds for the price of one, he now knows that he will definitley get a response from you, and there is no way that he will not know if you are w/ someone...plus, who really just wants to be asked if they have a boyfriend point blank like that...its just...so factual...much more fun his way...dont you agree... i mean its so much fun that your actually writing a post about his behaviour...this is classic!!

Most guys don't have the balls to ask directly. He might still have a thing for you, but he might be scared of rejection or to look like a fool if you did have a boyfriend. Guys always like to look like they don't care when they actually do.

That is how they ask. They say does your boyfriend or husband mind and then the woman corrects them if they are single.

Sometimes they just shoot that at you to see your reaction . it is not necessarily that they assume you have one its just a game they like to play. That way if you do they aren't rejected so to speak.
