Yes, you can have PRK/Lasik surgery to correct vision. It is approved by both services. The Navy offers it free of charge for select active duty personnel and midshipmen.

It use to be for the AF and Navy that laser surgery was a big no. However an new rule for the AF states that after one year if you have 20/20 vision then you can apply to be a pilot. Not sure about the Navy. This is a very new rule. A recruiter should be able to answer the question for you for sure, but I know several pilots that had it done and after a year are now in pilot training.

Well there's not a whole lot of difference for the actual job itself. Of course a major difference besides the aircraft they use is where they land and take off. I think maybe another difference is the Navy spends more time patrolling over the seas where the Air Force spends more time patrolling over the land. They can do both though. There maybe some differences in weaponry as well. I think they probably work and train together on occasion. For the most part though they're combat Aviators that work for 2 different military branches. It's kind of like asking the differences between the Army Infantry and the Marine Infantry. There more alike than different.

If you want to be a pilot....(after you get your surgery).....you have a much better chance in the Army than either the Navy or the Air Force.....the Army has three times the number of pilot slots.

You can in the Air Force, since May 2007, the Air Force allows Pilot candiates to have had either Lasik or PRK eye surgery.

The Navy hasn't made that determination yet.

For Class 1 Flying Duty you are permitted no worse than 20/50 uncorrected vision, which must be corrected to 20/20 in each eye.

absolutely not, my brother is a serving air force pilot, and according to him, you must naturally have 20/20 vision.
