If Christians attack their own congregation, it's not because they are Christians, but because they are human. Christians are just ordinary people like everyone of us; with imperfections, with problems, with confusions, with setbacks, with 'perceived enemies' of their own. We are not God, and therefore susceptible to doing mistakes...with little faith.
If by chance we hear others of our own side contradicting our thoughts, and we flare up defending our stance, this is just because as human, we are aggressive and defensive in nature,.. and has nothing to do with being Christians. It's 'common attitude' which is left untamed,.. for lack of self-discipline.
Once faith is weakened, we fall into pits of foolish arguments on the effort of proving the other wrong, which is basically all human nature.

Let's assume that God exists.
Now, what do we really know about God? What verifiable, conclusive evidence do we have about what God wants, what God likes?
We have a holy book, excuse me, three holy books. Each of the holy books has been filtered by the mind of man.
If you have three men who witness a motor vehicle accident in broad daylight you'll get three versions of the accident. This is an accident that three human beings saw, in the physical world.
Now, imagine how difficult it is to reach any agreeement about an entity whose existence cannot be proven, whose attributes are merely guessed at, and whose location is unknowable.
I used to live a mile from the main road I took to the Interstate highway. In that mile I passed four Christian churches and I'm sure each of those churches believed that it had the true way to Jesus.
If you want to make progress, you'll have to admit that you don't know a thing for certain, and that the best thing we can do is love our neighbors and treat each other like "fellow passengers to the grave" as Dickens put it.

Christians cannot 'stand together'. There are too many denominational differences. In Catholcism, the pope just stated again the concept that ONLY the catholics are TRUE followers of God. In many of the "Protesting Daugther" sects, they have alot of resentment towards Catholics.
Heheheee Christians like to CLAIM that theirs is the ONLY path to the SPIRIT, but which one---each denomination CLAIMS to be the TRUE Path.
Even "Jesus" said that a 'house divided cannot stand'.
Personally, the only thing I expect from Christiandom is the same as its ALWAYS been---MORE sin. A person really cannot expect things like morality and knowledge from a group of self professed sinners. IF a sinner is willing to LIE and DEFY their OWN god(s), the truth is NOTHING is really sacred to them. IF a sinner is willing to LIE and DEFY their OWN god(s), what is to stop them from doing all sorts of ickie things to mere humans.
One should also note ANOTHER teaching of 'Jesus', ...
Mat 7:16-20 A good tree cannot bear evil fruit, a tree that bears evil fruit is to be cut down and burnt.
With all the ickie things committed by pretty much EVERY denomination of Christianity, any TRUE follower of 'Jesus' would NOT be a Christian.

Still not sure where this is going but I feel there is credence for further dialogue once we get more information. You know I am always happy for those deep rooted beliefs of others and I think it is fantastic that others are on the same journey, it doesn`t matter that they walk a differing path because I know our paths will cross many times and when they do I rejoice in what I can share and learn from fellow travelers. Personally I don`t feel as though I`m under attack from any one, but I do respect that this is just my perception. More info please

If you're looking for a vote for ecumenicalism, you aren't going to get it from me. All "Christians" are not the same. "Fundies" , as we are affectionately called, are sick of the watered down message coming out of a lot of churches. I was raised in a dead church and I know what I'm talking about. Now we have the churches that look alive (Revelation 3:1) with all their rock bands and false doctrine but are actually dead and are sending people to hell in droves. I'm for the good old fashioned gospel preaching. People need to hear about the cleansing blood of Christ and not a bunch of "get rich quick" nonsense. Stand together with compromisers who call themselves Christians but won't pick up their cross? No, ma'am.

I don't think that a lot of people who call themselves Christians are really Christian,
not a true belief in God with a true way of living it everyday.
This is why we have so much hatred in the form of road rage, tv porn, internet porn, school shootings etc etc. everyday in this country.
Stand together?
Christians won't even acknowledge that there can be other Chrisitans who belong to a different faith than they do.
It is all over this site.
God is love, I think a true Christian can be spotted by his/her fruit.
Hate is not Christian, hateful condemning talk is not Christian, killing people is not Christian.
I think there are many evil spirits in this world today who are deceiving many.

Because rather than learning how to deal reasonably with their fear and anger they are given a catharsis and fear of an unbelievable god which just doesn't always get the job done. peace can't be maintained through lies and force but requires understanding .

Steel sharpens steel. I trust the attack is to the subject and not the person?
As for attacks, there are many. Are you referring to a less christian type of attack?

I am with you. The first thing we should do is to stop bashing each other. Catholics don't attack other religions but when we are attacked it is only fair that we defend ourselves.
