You're absolutely right in that Christians need to defend their views, defend their faith, and yes "metaphorically," (some people will think we mean physically) we need to be ready for a fight, a spiritual battle unlike any modern Christians in this country have yet to see, because Christianity is under attack, and since our views are based upon our faith in God...we certainly need to speak up when people slander and blatantly lie about Biblical history, scripture and teaching.
We obviously are to be humble and tactful and meek, but that doesn't mean weak as you said.
Take Care and God Bless!

It is indeed a good topic for debate but, aint there always? Firstly it is a general sweeping statement concerning Christians. Do you not believe in the message of Christ? I attend chapel as often as I can and I take from it what I feel I need to feed my spirituality. I question the priest during confession in a discerning way so that I may examine my own beliefs in the secular sense. It is easy to look at those who profess Christianity and in general what we perceive their beliefs as a whole to be, going a bit deeper I don`t feel I could comment with out ascertaining the deep rooted beliefs of many individuals who believe in the message of Christ. Stand in unity is the cry of the day but ( two buts, must be Friday) it is accepted within the bible that there are and always will be varying messages for the different practices that exist. I would rather call for those like minded people to gather and rejoice in the message of Christ as it is true to you.

That's unlikely for Christians alone to think. People so often mistook meekness for weakness. Actually, each is well distinguished apart from the other.
Meekness, as being humble and modest is a strength within one's spirit. It's takes a lot of courage and self-esteem denial to be able to stay grounded when the situation tends to exalt us. We've been reminded to offer the left cheek as well when the right cheek gets slapped, which only means not to retaliate or avenged for the wrong done to us by others. Not being able to hold back our reaction to prideful confrontations is the weakness we hope to rid off. It's the kind of weakness that we often assume falsely as 'strength'.
We could say then that meekness is the very strength we cultivate inside us like immunization to fight against that weakness we called 'too much pride'.

Why do you think Christians cannot discern between the two? Meekness is strength under control. Weakness is just, well, weakness.
Why are you making this generalization about Christians not standing up for their beliefs? Are you standing up for yours?

Kick, I have to say something. You need to write a book. These questions you ask are not questions but statements that need to be put into the context of a book or a lecture because you're going to get all kinds of answers and it's going to dilute your vision. It sounds like you've discovered many fundamental flaws with Christianity and rather than listen to a bunch of bogus defenses for these age old discrepencies, I think you need to teach the world and where you're efforts need to be placed is in finding a way to reach a larger audience.

Does the truth really need to be defended?
Seems like it should stand up pretty well on it's own if it were actually true.

A good MODERN illustration of meekness is Clark Kent.
(I am SOOO tempted to explain this, but if I have to explain it, it will lose its effectiveness - ooooh)

Christians stand up for their beliefs so frequently they impose their beliefs on others more than not.
Politicans always play to Christian values b/c people who go to church are also more likly to vote.
As for the Political thing - separation of church and state.

Because of the false teaching and Laodician church attitude that's rampant in America.Todays church is more of a country club than a house of worship and fellowship.
