The difference? The media has their noses in every single aspect of this war compared to back then. We have too many people who feel bad for those poor innocent terrorists we kill. They focus on the few women and children that are accidentally shot, but turn a blind eye to the hundreds the terrorists themselves kill on a seemingly daily basis with their car bombs, ieds, and suicide bombers. In this war, America is the bad guy, the bully, the warmongers, etc. etc. It's truly sickening. People need to realize that it is WAR, nothing about war is supposed to be friendly and perfect.

WW2 - was a very different war, enemies were clear cut and out in the open, set uniforms etc. and War on Terror- the term is so broad that identification of a terrorist is hard to pinpoint...I'm not against the war on terrorist its just simple reasoning...what would you do, if someone came into your home removed your father from the house, then put one of there friends in his place and said this is all for the best. Yes there leaders were a little of there rocker and needed a wake up call, but, to impose leadership on a country that has been fighting for generations, isn't something that can be corrected in such a short time as everyone thinks it can.

It is a whole different ballgame. In WW2 at least we had a clear enemy now we don't. I think the best lesson that can be learned is that things change and therefore different tactics are needed. WW2 was more about race and failed politics now it is about religion and culture which is something far more dangerous because it isn't about governments anymore its about whole cultures which are not so easily changed.

i have to agree with Wayne C up there. I mean we are fighting a war like cops. Not like a military force. Our solders are being so scrutinized by the libs an we are fighting a war half assed because of it.
If we had the mined set in this war as we did in ww2 we would NEVER think of giving up, we would have gone into Iraq with enough troops to begin with, we would have more control over there.

ww2 was a very creative and thought out minded war.i guess the biggest tool we could use from that war would be to train our own operatives as act-a-like,look-a-like and talk-a-like muslim clerics and slowly replace the ones in middle east without their knowing it.also,for america's cia go into the printing business and reprint the entire koran and our agents quietly replace our version with their;s with all of the hate passages removed

I think carpet bombing should be an option. Massive flights of bombers that can level the entire country. One bomb per square meter of the country and we are good to go. Just start at one end and work across the country.
Granted there wont be anyone left alive, but the war will be over.

we took a great leap in technology in WW2; possibly we could learn to not commit the same sins as those who we held in judgement

WWII was full of atrocities, violence, torture and executions. By many countries including the USA. My grandfather who was in WWII said 75% of the ground troops would have been convicted and imprissoned today for what they did to win back then. LESSON? Stop trying to fight a nice, politically correct, gentle war and kill!

we learned that no matter how comitted and willing to die an enemy is when you can step back out of harms way and nuke them they loose the will to fight real quick. terrorist are willing to die as long as they take one of us with them. cant imagine what it must be like standing in a city where im hated and nothing distinguishes friend from foe until im fired upon. show them we can kill them from the comforts of home and this will end. maybe you think too drastic but i assure you they are working on killing you
