My parents are cuban and I was born and raised in San Juan. Why is it that whenever I travel to the US, mexicans call me "brother". I'm not your brother. Culturally, puerto ricans and cubans are more like americans than they are to mexicans. Its a shame when people like me get associated with what MEXICANS are doing to the immigration system in the US. People from puerto rico (REAL puerto ricans not the ones from new york) are ashamed by what mexicans are doing to the USA.
Are you aware at what mexicans do to illegal immigrants in Mexico. Did you know that during the cuban revolution, cubans fled to teh embassy only to be handed to fidel's firing squads.....

Cubans are NOT minorities in the US. Many cubans are completely european like many americans. Just because I speak spanish is meaningless. Maltese people speak english, that doesnt make them like americans.

This seems to be a real sore point with you since you post this same question often. Cubans now are using Mexico to illegally cross into the states. We have the wet foot dry foot law. But first they are illegally in Mexico. So I really see no difference in the 2 cultures. Other than our government hates Fidel and love Fox and Calderon. Once Calderon ticks us off like Fidel has we'll probably give Mexicans political asylum too. because technically Mexico treats their people worse than Cuba. But hey...it's all politics. Just noticed something. Your parents are Cuban but yet you say you're Puerto Rican. That would make you a Cuban Exile. Are you ashamed of your Cuban heritage too not just the Mexicans? How sad to be ashamed of who you are. I feel for you truly.

your experiancing something that alot of people experiance. take native americans for example, theres no "real" tell tale sign that someone is native american. i have found this to be true of all races through geneology. people see the most obvious feature on another person and assume they are african american, or italian, or indian, or mexican....etc many people do this automaticly and dont even realise it. i am sorry people commonly mistake you for being mexican, its annoying to have to correct people all the time. i am aware of what other countries do to illegal immigrants, but i have always believed that the whole point of america was to be a more civil more humane country than all the others. thats what we brag about alot too, why would we just do what everyone else is doing? doesnt make sence to me.

That's what I have such a BIG issue with. Many people have worked hard and gone through the paperwork and everything else to become a legal immigrant or a United States Citizen. They deserve respect and all the help they want in making this land their new home. It is the ones who slip through and come in illegally that are making all immigrants feel like we (Americans who's families have been here since before the civil war) do not like them or want them and that's just wrong. We or at lest I, do want them here, I take great pride in people wanting to come here and make a life for them and their family. It is the illegal ones that are creating so many problems for America and Americans. This is all illegal immigrants, Mexican, Brazilian, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, Russian, ALL illegal immigrants. We should have them deported and removed. I just wish someone had the courage to do it.

If you speak Spanish, then you have a bond with other Spanish speaking people whether you like it or not, especially in a predominately English speaking country.. Cubans and Mexicans are minorities in the U.S. which elicits the old "we've got to band together" politicizing.

No one in their right mind would want to include you in our struggle!
Your can side with the white Americans that have done so much for your people, made them slaves, built the South off the back of Slave labor, Lynched thousands of blacks. If your family has been in the Americas for a long time, you can trace your roots back to a Slave.
The Communist Cuban revolution overthrew the white ruling class, who immigrated to America, The black and mixed race stayed in Cuba with Castro. Mexico was right to turn over the CIA backed Batista Goons to Cuba, to get the same treatment that they ruled Cuba with, An iron Fist.
Most ethnic groups have people that sell out their own.

it's because there are those individuals who use ethnicity, skin color or language to determine whether they agree or disagree with an issue, when what should determine whether a person agrees or disagrees should be whether it is right or wrong. i align myself by right or wrong and not if someone has the same skin color as myself or speaks the same language as me. when you won't follow the we are the same we should think the same mentality there are some who will get angry about it.
